You can buy lindens here by logging in and clicking where it says, well, buy lindens.
It isn't in the forums but in the main part of the website.
Your 'rez date' is in the first part of your profile, in SL.

Do NOT buy $L from any website that asks for your avatar rezdate. That information is not required. (It's not harmful either, as far as I know...but what OTHER personal information are they asking for? It sounds like a phishing expedition to me.)
In my opinion, the only places you should buy $L are the Lindex exchange on this website, or the XStreetSL exchange. Or any third party site that you can verify is using the Second Life Risk API.
