I'm trying to link my hip attachments to my upperleg attachments so I can have those points open. It's annoying trying to move them around so they align correctly. Is there some easier way to do this?

Make a copy of the attachments you plan to link. Tint them red or some unusual color so you can tell you are looking at the alignment set. Rename that set so you know it is the tinted set.
Stand on a pose stand, wearing the tinted attachments.
Rez a copy of the normal attachments on the ground.
Position the copies of the normal attachments so they exactly overlap the tinted copies, and are in the same position.
Temporarily detach the tinted copies.
Select and link the normal looking copies, selecting the leg piece last, so the combined set follows leg movement, which is probably far more important here than following hip movement.
Re-name the linked set.
Take the linked set back into inventory.
Wear the tinted hip attachment again, to serve as an alignment guide.
Attach the new conjoined attachment set to your leg, and, if necessary, adjust position of the conjoined part so the tinted hip part aligns with the new conjoined linkset's similar parts.
Detach the tinted part.
Detach the finished conjoined part. It should now attach, when worn, to your leg in the same position as it should have before linking, but will have the extra hip parts.
Repeat if needed for the other leg.
Delete the tinted set when done.
