Hi,
I have continuing problems with SL.
I've already checked the requirements, and my system should be good enough to keep SL running smoothly...
Should, because, unfortunatly, I only get around 1-5 minutes to look around each time before SL crashes...
Anybody having an inkling what's causing my problems ?
Thanks,
Siubhan.

What version of SL? (precisely)
What are your system specs?
processor make and model and speed operating system version and service pack level amount of ram video card make and model amount of video ram
Have you opened your computer and looked to see if all the fans are spinning properly?
Have you blown out the dust ?
If your computer will tell you what temperature it is at what does it say?
Help / About Second Life shows some of the info that would be useful. You may be able highlight the text there, do Control C to copy it, and Control V to paste it into the forums here.

Thanks,
Siubhan. If you can get in and stay in five minutes, that is a good start. Try and reduce the load a bit... go to preferences and reduce the draw distance first.. that should help a lot. Also, throttle up the bandwidth. Make sure there are as few programs running in your OS as possible, and se how you get on.

It sounds to me as if there's some sort of memory leak going on here. Generally, when you crash after 'x' minutes, that's generally the case. Have you made any changes recently to your system? If so, try rolling those changes back, including downloading an older version of the client to see if that helps. http://www.secondscripter.com/

Hi,
I'm working on my month old laptop... Comes as close to brandnew as I can get on a pc here in my home.
So no dust....
I admit that I'm not that smart with system requirements, but I've asked the family's computer specialist and he said my laptop should be capable of running secondlife.
I'm working on an Esprimo Mobile V5505 T73OO , 2 GH. And that's about what I know of memory of the thing.
Siubhan.

Laptops often have overheating problems with intense graphics programs. Who knows if thats related realy, just a suggestion to look into.

It could be the power supply is not supplying enough power consistently to the graphics card and it is failing to operate correctly.
Check the power rating of the power supply and see whether is specifies that the rating is the max or whether it can uniformly supply that power.
I had what sounds like a simillar problem once not too long ago and the visible effect was very much the same.
Also make sure you are on the latest drivers for your gfx card.
