I'm an outdoorsy girl but I would like a little space to call my own and I thought a walled garden of some sort with enough prims to make it into a nice little nest of my own design, I don't really need a roof.
Does anyone rent out this type of thing????

I found one but it was already rented and way too pricey...

I won't be in world until 5-5:30 SLT tonight, but look me up then. We may be able to work something out :)

You can make your own garden on or above any land :) , tho it might be a little incongruous in a snowy landscape.

For premade walled ones, I know Ingrid Ingersoll makes a nice prefab garden skybox. I also saw some nice ones at that place with the scripted fountains ... ummmm ... it'll come to me ... Anyway, they exist.

If you just want a small one, the Paradise Blanket has a few in it I think, and I'm sure there are holodecks that have gardens. These are essentially single-prim rezzors that rez one of several skyboxes at whatever height you specify.

But it's fun to build your own! Just rent some land and go for it. Walls are easy, as are hedges.

There are a ton of free plants and trees, the Landscaping kits in NCI's freebie vendors are a good start. Plus, even the very high quality plants at Heart Gardens or Bliss or Fate Gardens or Straylight are surprisingly cheap. If you look in the forums classified sections under Home & Gardens, you will also see a lot of folks advertising new flowers etc. all the time. Some of these smaller garden centers have products that are every bit as high quality as the big guys.

The SL Botanical Gardens are a great showplace for some of the garden centers.

oooh...this would be a very simple thing to create in a skybox.....perhaps even a greenhouse type place.....glassed in with an open courtyard at the center.....it could be a really lovely design with some thought.

You could use a plot of land...or a skybox...either way would work, but a skybox would give you the advantage of having an unobstructed sunny sky to shine over your garden at all times. Ace's Spaces has some wonderful building designs for very reasonable prices.....and low prim. You can modify also so you could easily buy a structure and then open it up a bit to your liking. And any building can be rezzed in the sky.

Okay I have seen Ingrid Ingersolls sky garden, it's very lovely, how would I go about finding somewhere to put it?

Now you need land, woot! A couple of decisions need to be made:

-- Do you want to rent or buy?
-- How much are you willing to spend per month?

You seem relatively new to this, so I would rent if I were you. (Unless you're a premium account, in which case you get 512 worth of rent per month free, and I would buy a 512 plot on mainland.) But if you rent, there is effectively no difference between mainland and private islands ... in either case you are renting from another resident.

512m2 supports 117 prims total (unless your landlord has arranged some sort of prim bonus), and will run about 5$ (U.S.) per month. You will probably outgrow that pretty quickly, tho actually I stayed in my first skybox for months.

I am not a great person to talk to about how to find land inworld, since I did it through friends and then thru SLX. The inworld land search process seemed to complex for me at the time ... but really it just boils down to using Search to look for rental land. A few rules:

> The landlord is the most important thing, since an SL landlord can evict you at any time for any reason. So you want one who's been around for a while, and who has quite a few "estates", or islands.

> Look at the land in person first. While there, choose "About Land" on the pie menu for the land and read the convenant, which is essentially the rental agreement.

> Talk to a neighbor or two.

There are courses on land ownership from NCI etc. ... even if you're renting, it can be good to sit thru one to get the lingo down.
