Do the SL instructors that are in the official group, still get 500L an approved class from LL? I'd like to find instructors to offer build classes in my Nerdy Sanchez Sandbox, so trying to decide how to go about it.

I don't think so.

I posted your question in the Instructor group chat.

The unanimous verdict of 4 other instructors is No.

So far as I can tell there is no reason to keep the instructor group in existence other than nostalgia. That's why I haven't left it despite being at 25 groups all the time.

Raising my hand here LOL

I would definitely be willing to help out......I'm not an expert builder, but my grasp of all the tools and concepts is secure. I am a mentor too...so my patience has been tested and tried and I still enjoy it immensely...I love helping people.

I'm not sure just how far you plan to go with the building classes.....or if it will be geared toward noobs for basic building.. (in which case, I'd love to...I enjoy helping folks from square one and so far noone has thrown tomatoes at me or given me that deer in the head lights blank stare when I'm explaining an SL concept lol)

anyway.... IM me if you think I might be able to contribute (oh, I did build my studio, which I got many kudos on.....but I just took it down and 'bought' another building lol)

Awesome, just find pm me or im me inworld. It would be great if I could get 2 or 3 people doing 1 or 2 classes a week. It would involve scheduling classes, listing them in events, and teaching them.

There are already groups doing a good job at that for free. Are you serious about paying / getting paid for it? (^_^)

Most SL Instructors moved to teaching at NCI. I was one of them but got burnt out teaching and yes, NCI paid 500$L per class. Does LL pay? No, There's really not a group anymore, it went the way of Live Helpers.

Well other classes or not, it never hurts to provide more education and just fun classes. If I get together a few cool people willing to teach 1 or 2 scheduled classes a week each, I'm quite happy to offer 500L.

I miss the SL Classes given through LL. All the instructors did an excellent job of those classes I attended. All were very patient. But, what I miss most is the LIVE HELPERS...I think it a major disservice to all of us in SL we no longer have a way to receive in-world live help...especially if you are new to SL. Those of us that have been around for awhile can survive and figure it out usually, but for those new to SL...

There is a network of semi-freelance teachers and the schools that support them called "SL Teachers without Borders". It may be of interest to join that group. Teachers are looking for classrooms. Classrooms/schools are looking for teachers. It all works out :)

NCI has a group that works that way. The NCI group chat is a great way to ask questions. It's a little silly sometimes, but any question I've asked has gotten an answer that was totally helpful. Also, while in the group, anyone is allowed to help as long as the information they give is right. I've even answered a few questions myself. (^_^)y

Just a minor correction, Toy. NCI pays 500L$ per class hour. So an hour and a half class would be 750L$.

And Toy had a great Water Effects class, too!

Hi Sarah, I've never taught a class, but I've accumulated a lot of time building in SL. Let me know if you're still looking for instructors. I'm in the Greenwich time zone, so I could cover the AM shift.

I still need people. I'm easy going about time. Anytime is fine with me as long as its prescheduled and listed.
