for the last two days Ive had issues with the web site. The Only pages I can get into are resident answers (hurrah) and support. I cant view my account page, transaction history or friends list, the blog or anything else. Ive been to concierge who tell me it maybe my end with my provider? Ive used the same provider for years and never had an issue before..and it suggests that if i can be in the forums, an error with the website? I dont know...but i really do need access to my account history etc..
Since yesterday Ive also had a black log in screen, I can see where to place my name & password..but no pretty photo or inworld details (number online etc) just pure black. Its a bit of a lottery logging in...hangs for an age...goes to conecting region, hangs again...then after about 5 mins i might get in, its a bit of a lottery.
Concerige told me they were doing work inworld at the moment...last night i was told they had VPN issues? but iam told its just me currently having these issues...
is it?

No, it isn't! I thought it was just me too. I've been having similar issues too for the last couple of days. I've had the black login screen, and the website has been verrrry slowwwww too. I can access most of the pages... eventually, but it may take a few attempts to do so. Hope it's sorted out soon.

From: Faithless Babii Yet this forum...takes seconds...weirdness ! If only that was the case for me. The website and forums are that bad tonight that I think I'll call it a night. Hopefully it'll be better tomorrow.

Are you all from England, maybe using the same ISP? I am not having any problems.

Me too Haven't been able to login for the last 6 hours (black login screen), and unbearable slowness for the website - if I leave it 5 or 10 minutes a page might load ... then again it might not. And that includes the forums.

This may be nothing to do with it, but I'm in the UK and I used to have slowness problems in the evenings. Eventually my ISP (Virgin) sent a letter telling me why. My downloads were being throttled if I exceeded a certain amount in 2 periods of the day. It was the 4 - 9p.m. period that did me every evening. After 3G has been exceeded the download speed is throttled for a few hours. The speed always returned at 11 p.m.

From: Faithless Babii hello you but but but i dont download anything...apart from SL hello you too You'd be amazed at how much you download just by using SL. If you are with Virgin, and your speed picks up at 11 p.m. or thereabouts, then that's the reason. Other ISPs no doubt do it too, but I don't know when the speed picks up for them. [added] I was on 4M connection at the time, which is why 3G was the throttle point. I Upped to 20M which raised the throttle point, and I haven't had any problems since.

I suffered it for probably a couple of months before they sent the letter. It started suddenly too, but it took a little while for me to recognise the time pattern. Maybe AOL have changed it. What are other parts of the web like? If they are normal, then I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Same problems for me too for the last 2 days, up to 2-3 hours to get in world, access ok to the blog but all other pages (including RA) either not loading or incredibly slow! Also in the UK & was blaming Talk Talk.. but maybe it's not just them after all.

(sorry for the double post earlier - reply page got stuck on send and I thought it hadn't gone)
Anyways, I'm in the UK too, but with Plusnet, so it's not just AOL. Probably the transatlantic routing or something.

From: Faithless Babii okkkkk spoke to live help..and yes theyve blogged it...they are investigating a problem with the links between SL & AOL in the uk Don't think it can just be ISP related, think it may be UK related in general. Things still seem quite poor tonight, can't say there's much of an improvement really. Everything else for me is also perfectly fine, all other website are ok... it's just SL. So as I said last night... hope this is fixed soon!

Just found this... From: someone 10:42 AM Pacific - CLOSED] It appears that the connection problems are limited to residents who log in via AOL or related partners (e.g. TalkTalk). This is not something that we have any control of, regrettably, and we would recommend residents to contact their internet service provider to take further action. Think I may raise a ticket... I'm with PlusNet, so it's not just AOL. PlusNet are owned by BT, I don't think they have a connection with AOL. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Plusnet support are saying: "We've raised a case with Tiscali (another transit provider we use) about slow access to US-based sites. They've given us a test file and we're currently running some diagnostics for them. "The thinking at the moment is that it's the route *back* via Tiscali that's causing the issues. "Edit: Have just posted a Service Status but there may not be another update until tomorrow morning." ( Service Status at http://usertools.plus.net/status/archive/1222891014.htm )
