Ok, this is a new one for me...
...an item that has been permanently rezzed in our home for 3 months is now gone. It was placed with the correct land group specified and has apparently just...vanished. It is not in my inventory, even lost and found. Using inventory search shows it not there.
This has been in the last day or so - just noticed it this morning.
I filed a support ticket, but in the meantime, has anyone else had in world items literally disappear?

I haven't (that I know of) but I seem to remember a post a few weeks back about someone who had bits of their house vanish for no reason. That would be a disturbing trend.

Has it gone to co-ords 0,0,0 in your home sim maybe? A while back part of my friends beach house went there, they had to try to get it out of the sea! from someone elses plot

Thanks EDIT TO UPDATE: Just returned from 0,0,0. Was 36m above solid ground. Tried wireframe view and didn't see anything (couldn't remember how to turn off the ground to look underground), but I put on two different prim detectors and neither one located it (or anything that belonged to me in the area). This is just too strange.

Wow that really is strange.
Maybe you could try the mini map thing, I believe your items show up as blue dots? (someone correct me if I am wrong) maybe you could scour the sim with the mini map on. I really don't know what else to suggest. I hope you find it though.
There are lots of strange things happening. My pose scripts keep putting my camera angle in a completely different place, even sometimes out of my parcel and on the roof of my neighbour, as well as the usual, camera underground cancelled sit senario that always freaks me out lol
Good luck, you may have to file a ticket thingy, but I am not sure if they can do anything.

Drea I know everyone says this but it does sometimes work, have you tried clearing your cache and re-logging? It has happened to me and I had to go through the process about 3 times for it to finally show up

A few days ago a stray chimney stack, complete with fireplaces and brightly burning fires, turned up in the corner of my partner's place. Apparently the owner used to live in the area and it must have been part of their build. It's been moved or returned by the island owner now. Seems some items are going walkabout lately!
Anyone else also find that they land facing in a different direction than usual when they tp to some favourite places recently?

Thanks Susie So far I've done the mini-map blue dot thing; used two different prim detectors I purchased in the past (because I'm so bad at losing prims on my own...having one get up and leave is a new one...lol); gone to the 0,0,0 co-ords of my home sim; used wire-frame view...nothing yet. Filed a ticket so seeing what the Lindens say.

Items going for a walkabout gave me a good chuckle...thanks Aeslyn Interestingly, the item is one of the Pillow Talk pillows, so maybe it thought "I'm tired of just laying around all day. I want to see what the world is like." *grins* The chimney stack/fireplace showing up is odd! If a stray Pillow Talk pillow suddenly appears in your home (anyone) - just please send it toodling back to me. Thanks

Was it possibly set for sale? Awhile back I had purchased an item from SLexchange that was just a linked object, not boxed. I rezzed it and left it where I wanted it. A few weeks later it just vanished and I didn't know what could of happened...upon my weekly review of my transaction history I saw that someone had purchased it...but I had never set it for sale, it was in my home not in my store. I re-purchased the item again from SLX and checked the properties when I rezzed it, it had the for sale box ticked already.

There was an old bug that would, on occasion, render some random prims in a build as un-viewable by an individual. One way to "bring them back" was for that ingividual to change group tags, of all things. Buy a key symptom of that glitch was that others still could see the "mssing" prims.
It does sound to me like somehow the item got set to "sell original", and someone bought it. If so, there will be a transaction record in your account's transaction log that says who bought it, and at what price.
Otherwise? Well, sometimes physical items like wind chimes can get moved by physical forces, and sometimes prims are set to "anyone can move", and some joker moves them right off your land...
If you know the name of the item, or if you have other items by the same Creator, I'd try using a Scan Foo scanner to locate the item. Just on the off chance that it's been moved under the floor or into a wall.

My heart dropped when I read that...but doesn't show up on transactions history. This was a scripted pillow from Pillow Talk. I checked all the other pillows we purchased from there in the house and none are set for sale, so unlikely this one would have been. Something good to check for future purchases though - also went around and double checked all our other prims...lol.

Just on the off chance that it's been moved under the floor or into a wall. Thanks for all these great suggestions, Ceera I tried changing into a variety of tags and can't see the pillow....nor can my partner. I've also tried turning on highlight transparent and beacons for scripted objects. Checked my transaction history and it wasn't sold. I checked other items I have and none were set to "anyone can move" - HOWEVER, several were checked to "share with group." Our home is on rented land so ostensibly anyone belonging to that land group "could" take it??? I'm rethinking unchecking that item. Scan Foo is the scanner I was using to locate it...both in the house and at 0,0,0 co-ords. As well as another prim scanner. Starting to get a bit frustrated and REALLY perplexed.

I don't know if this helps.
I rezzed an object and I was adjusting it when some combo of keys I hit caused it to disappear. I couldn't find it anywhere. I searched my inventory couldn't find it. Checked 0,0,0 and it wasn't there.
After emptying out the skybox and insuring I had no prims rezzed I still could not find it.
I returned to the store and discovered the item name was completely different than expected. A search of my inventory using the store name for the object and I found it.
I don't know how it got there. Twenty min later I did it again to another object. I am thinking I must be hitting a key combo that causes me to take the object.

Heh, Conductor - I hope I don't accidentally discover that key combo Great suggestion! I couldn't remember the name of the item so first thing we did was return to where we purchased it to get the correct name. Yep, been searching using that name plus the store name (as it shows up on other items I own from the same merchant)...still no go. *sighs* Personally, I think it's somewhere in Bay City *grins*

This morning, my alt was checking some new items in my shop and he noticed that a two-prim object set for sale was missing. He looked around and never found it. He thought it may have become a ghost prim, but there were no prims listed in Selected/Sat upon prims.
I logged in ready to re-rez the object. But when I got to my shop, it was there. I checked out the edit box and everything looked okay.
Alt logged back in and this time he saw the item. (Even though my alt is a low-wage worker, I trust him on tasks like this.)
