Rez/Transfer Alert: Asset System Sluggishness
Wednesday, December 19th, 2007 at 12:01 PM PST by: Teeple Linden
Operations is investigating a slowdown in the asset system. This is affecting multiple regions, and can manifest in a number of ways, including:
- Inability to save notecards
- Inability to compile scripts
- Refusal of rezzed objects to return to inventory.

We’re still scoping this issue, and will keep you updated as we move past diagnosis and toward resolution. Until the scope of this issue is clear, we strongly suggest you avoid rezzing or transferring valuable (no-copy) assets or L$.

http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/12/19/reztransfer-alert-asset-system-sluggishness/

Hope they work it out soon!

Don't buy anything either for that matter, or return rezzed items, or build (or transfer inventory in any way):

HUD attachments and loading of some clothing textures are borked, too. I guess I'm off to bed with a good book. Any other David Weber fans around here? ;)

A grid shutdown is imminent. We regret both the short notice and the inconvenience, but we must address the asset system without resident load. We’ll keep you updated, and will have things back open ASAP.

I know that LL don't read this but I have to say...................We are the people who pay huge amounts each week to advertise on a faulty system. We are the people who create content. We are the people who pay our $275/month plus VAT. We are the people who pay our land tier for mainland. I could go on but the message is to LL.....If you don't look after the people who put the money into your account your shareholders will walk out.

People like Honeybear are your future customers, I'm an established customer. Please, treat us all with the respect we deserve and stop messing with us.

This actually started yesterday, I made a couple of purchased that never showed. I still have to contact the creator, but I hate doing that *groans*. I hope they get it fixed fast and properly.

Don't seem to be able to log in to beta... at least with the WindLight viewer...

By the way, is anyone else absolutely HATING the new windlight startup screen?

Yes - we've had extremely lengthy discussions on the SL Dev list -

basically every argument that LL has put forward how this change improves security has been trivially dismissed, and a number of ways in which it actually makes things worse have been presented to LL but ignored.

LL finally just dropped back to "it helps us with an anti-fraud measures but we can't tell you how"

Meanwhile implementing this new screen has also implemented a whole range of new bugs

see http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3832
and http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3685

I've already had to personally deliver several items that people purchased that I did get payment for but they never got the item. Luckily they were all no trans things lol. But, I can definately confirm that part.

Oh but Rhaorth, owning a sim makes it that much more fun lol

Seriously, I've been considering offing my island and just getting a good prim amount with someone, but I'd be miserable without all my space.

I'll tell ya Ding - I have the money right now, I could do it, but I'm so scared to buy an island right now that I just can't bring myself to do it. I haven't seen any stability since my first week in-world.

It's been better than it was when I started at the end of last summer, back when there were 1/10th as many people logging in at once.
