jumpster xD it's the silly server version they have out now. there is a jira floating around some place about when an av enters a sim or leaves a sim it lags the place really bad and even stalls it out. so guess we live with it till they fix it is my guess.

ive been using a lag meter from that weapons maker chick and noticed that indeed thereisa lag spike when someone tps into a region, only lasts a momentand isnt noticible with a load of ram and with agood graphix card with a load of its own memory, only noiced with this meter . the lag i experienced to day was incredible. as if i were in a crowed mall back in 07 on my crappy dell

I logged in the other night (middle of the night, low online numbers), first time in a couple of weeks probably (real life kicking my butt, and LL diminishing my enjoyment) and I could not attach, could not teleport, could not make an animation play, could not rez anything -- I gave up trying anything at that point. I have to say, it did not inspire any renewed interest. But to look on the bright side, LL has reigned in the nasty adult stuff, and XStreetSL has been blogged into oblivion. I anxiously await the day that RA disappears into the nether, and I have even less connection to this second life...

It's all part of that More Predictable Experience (TM) that LL is shooting for.

Hmmmmm - predictably laggy!

I'm getting rubberbanding in my workspace in a quiet mainland sim. That's never happened before, and it's not the result of people entering the sim. In a typical evening the only people who come to the sim are coming to my store, and the rubberbanding doesn't coincide with arrivals. I'm also getting edits un-doing themselves several times per hour.

I agree that general performance seems to have taken a big step back over the past few weeks - lots more lag, failed teleports and even client crashes that were unheard of for me a few months ago.

Been on SL for a few months. Have experienced the LAG problem many times, also many crashes. My system is very powerful, use a cable connection.

I spend alot of money here (more than I should and can afford) with the music venues, land and house purchases, etc.

WHY is it that the LAG situation continues? WHY CANT THE LINDENS find it in their hearts to fix/update/repair this continous and ongoing problem.

I for one, as many other people plan on boycotting SL. Any further purchases will cease. maybe when this starts happening and they finally figure out, it could be too late.

Don't screw with the hand that feeds you (ADDRESS TO LINDENS).

To Lindens: Get it right, or SL will be a very small place, .... soon.......

Just to make this all even stranger...I held a decent sized event last night (50 or so people) and it was a combat event using a scripted HUD...and the sim performed BETTER than it had been all week??? My video player was even working. I wish this made a little bit of sense.

btw Jumpman..I saw on the Combat Evolution website that you own a fight system...when will I get you over at RAGE FC so I can kick yo bum? I'll line up a charity fight against our womens champion...get it on Rezzed.TV...what do ya say?

Any scripted lag meter can only look at what the sim is doing - it can't see anything about how your PC is doing.

The length of stall that the sim experiences when somebody TPs in seems to be pretty strongly related to what they are wearing; more scripts and prims = longer stall. This is 100% sim-side stuff and it really doesn't matter what sort of kit you have at home.

At somewhere where most of the people arriving aren't too heavly loaded with HUDs and 500-prim shoes and all that, it's maybe not that terrible of a bug. At places like clubs, where people tend to be wearing a lot more, it's just horrible.

Even with the latest greatest hardware everything slows down to a crawl when people tp in - I have not noticed it for a few days maybe they fixed something and now they can tell everybody ..wasn't me..

Ask them to do what Sindy keeps telling people: fly in circles while somebody TPs in. This makes the sim stalls very, very easy to see.

It takes the sim sending you updates to fly in a circle. If the sim stops sending you updates, you'll go flying in a straight line as client side prediction takes over. Once the sim starts working again, you'll snap back to flying in circles.

Or you can just take what they sent you.. With that JIRA mentioned above open, support can't really do anything about it anyway. I'm surprised they don't know about this problem, though.
