Just curious if the new auction system is deterring anyone from buying at auction.
Yesterday I bid on several and won one. I'd forgotten the land was immediately assigned to my avatar, and that I could not buy for group. This meant that though I was sitting on 112,000sqm of spare tier in my group, I was tiered up a half sim anyway. It's not a tragedy, but that is annoying.
If I really want something I will bid again using the new auction system. However, I won't be casually bidding on stuff.
The fact that I have to pull tier out of group *in case* I win is a problem.
For others I can see it being a problem where perhaps one person wants to pay for the auction land but a group member wants to donate the tier for it.
And on a second note - has anyone found a way to get the completed auction data? Linden Lab does a fairly good job at presenting game data, but with the new auction system we've gone from completely transparent to complete darkness.
Anyway, I was just curious what everyone else thought of this new auction system.

i liked the old system better for the reasons youve mentioned. i also liked being able to see who had been bidding and who won.

Last time I looked I thought the prices were outrageous, so I haven't really used the auction system much.

Yikes, that whole automatic tiering up thing when I already had the spare tier sitting in a group would certainly be a deterrent for me. A half sim tier increase would be potentially disastrous for many people. It seems to me that the new auction system is much slower to load than the old one was, and the maps frequently don't show the parcel that's up for auction.

I wouldn't use the old or new system to buy land unless you absolutely HAD to have land in a certain sim. It's way overpriced compared to prices inworld.
The only thing worth buying at auction IMO is full sims. Those are supposedly coming back in January.
