I've just created a new account. There's a dispenser of free stuff on Help Island that has tons of things in it, but it's slow paging through them. I'm wondering if this free stuff dispenser is duplicated somewhere in the rest of SL. In other words, if I leave there, am I passing up things I won't be able to find again? I know there's tons of free stuff elsewhere but I don't want to pass up the stuff I only have one chance at.
When you page back on the free stuff machine, will it come to end when it reaches the beginning or does it loop endlessly? Anyone know how many pages there are in it?

Hi Sharcel, and welcome to Second Life! Regarding the free stuff on Help Island: These are known as "freebies" and there are literally hundreds of thousands of freebies all over the grid. A good place to start would be The Shelter, or any of the NCI (New Citizens Inc) information hubs. You won't miss out on the freebies at Help Island... trust me... your Inventory will be overrun with freebies before you know it, from all over the world.

Hi and welcome to SL and the forums. Yes there are 'freebie' boards elsewhere, you can try searching for NCI (New Citizens Incorporated) I think thats the full name,. they have many things that are usefull for new residents. you could also look up Gene Jacobs Profile in search and although he is no longer in SL he has a link to his freebie board, if I was inworld I would send you a tp. There are also groups you can join that will alert you of the latest, newest freebies in world too. Edited to add .. you could also set up accounts on both Slexchange and Onrez, and do a search for free items, they get sent to you directly inworld. as others have stated, there are literally thousands of 'freebies' and if you miss out on a few, I wouldn't worry about it, in 6 months you are probably going to go through your inventory and throw most of them away anyway!

Most of the Freebis will turn up in multiple places, so don't worry too much. I also recommend Sarah Nerd's Freebie Paradise

2. how do you know this?. There are these things called search engines, you can use them to look up information. Also, since I am on Help Island, I could ask a mentor, if there were any around. I didn't see any at the moment, and of course when you ask a mentor you are just getting the knowledge of one person. Also, there's a wiki, and a knowledge base run by Linden Lab . Plus I've been logged in to the forums for several hours now, so I could find out a lot by reading posts and using the forum search. I know the entry procedure has just been changed not too long ago, and this vendor may have been put in at that time, though I don't know that, but if that's true, then people that started before that change won't know about that vendor. As I said in my initial post, I know there are tons of free things all around. What I asked wasn't "Are there other free things around", but "Is this particular dispenser duplicated in the main part of SL?" This is what the vendor looks like. It makes you wait 12 seconds between paging left or right, and wait some time between clicking items. I guess I've looped through the whole thing now. thank goodness. I think the next stop might be to get some free Lindens. Thanks for the tips and good wishes.

From: Sharcel Bellic This is what the vendor looks like. That's not a vendor, that's your login screen. Nothing inside the grid should ever ask you your password. /me wonders if this is another Friday thread As for the dispenser freebie: many many freebies turn up again and again all over the grid. Forget about this thing, whatever it is. You'll find better stuff inworld. There is no such thing as free Lindens B.

Hi Sharcel. Welcome to SL and the forums. Sounds like you are really well informed for a new player, which puts you way ahead of the curve. Glad you made it through the seemingly endless vendor. Odds are good that the stuff you see there you will run into at other places in the grid. I went to Help Island Public to check, but didn't see the vendors you described there. On the public islands I visited there was a small freebie store, and the stuff in it was nothing that couldn't be found elsewhere. Just wanted to point out Nissa's suggestion again, though I know it isn't what you asked in your original post. Browsing on Slex & OnRez for freebies can save you a lot of hassle and whatever you select will be delivered right to you. In world Vienna Freebies and The Gnubie Store are good, in addition to the other places mentioned.

Heh, I clicked the wrong link in Photobucket. That should be the freebie vendor. The vendor has a lot a nice looking stuff for female avatars but not so much for men. I know you can't get a lot of free Lindens, but you are supposed to be able to get some. That zero up at the top is depressing. I scarfed up a good bit of those freebies. Well, time to get off Help Island, I am stir crazy. I will try to take a bunch of your good advices.

Most of that stuff you will find on the wall at NCI. As far as free lindens go, do a search for "Money Trees" A lot of them are restrictd to New residents. They will have various amounts of money on them that you can pick off, usually 10 or 20 lindens

I got a teleport offer from someone that left Help Island while I was still on it. I was ready to leave so I accepted after a few minutes. They were gone when I got there but the place I went to was a very nice looking place. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Paco/98/43/22 has some very nice indoor lighting effects.

Doesn't NCI pay out a small amount of lindens to newbies? I forgot what it's called but it was at an NCI area.

I don't see any free money - there's a lot of signs to look at there - but I do see some info about money trees, at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Kuula/128/128/25 Phooey, there's no list of places inside. Gotta use the search like you guys said.
