I saw some special avatars. Some of them can be seen with black lines outside the avatar at any view angel. Some of them with hairs on parts of the body. How to build these?

I am not sure what you mean but the only special avatars with any special powers are
the Lindens.
Majority of things are made by Residents within Second Life.
How to make avatars with body hair, etc?
This is done with textures it is very complex and hard
to explain process that takes lot of practice.
I suggest you explore the building and texture part of the forums it has lot of
knowledge there.
Or perhaps look in search in world under events/education for some classes.
There is a whole lot of classes on how to make textures but I did notice
self pace class on Gimp which is free texture making program.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

DOH! I thought this was on another type of "Special" avatar.... the kind that ride the short bus! :)

Ok, actually- the black outlined avatars you're seeing are actually made from prims that have another one outside them.

The interior prim is colored/textured. The exterior prim is hollow, transparent on the OUTside, and black on the INside.

So you'd have 2 spheres, one inside each other, with the interior one textured, and the exterior one hollow (black inside, transparent outside)

Head to a sandbox & play around, you'll see what I mean. ;)

I can't build, I'm not able to do it, so I bought my "special avatar" to "Sense". I can't give you the LM, I'm not in world at the moment, but you cand find the location in "search".
Sense has many different shapes, try to heve a look...ù

you're talking about "cel shaded" avatars.

Done with alpha trick. A hollow prim slightly larger than the prim under it with the inside whatever the color of the "outline" is and transparent on the outside.

Yes, good call about 'Sense'--my AV is from Sense, and I agree, they are very special.

However, none of the Sense AVs are cell shaded. And there are a few that have hair on them (beasts, demons, Lychanthrops), but none that have the kind of hair you're talking about. Next time you see one, take a snapshot, and post it.

I sell one.

The inside prim is whatever you want (these are invisiprims). The outside prim is fullbright and set to be partly transparent.

Here's a tutorial on to make the cell shading.
