There's a resident I'm trying to get ahold of. She's not in my Friend list, so I need to either drop an LM on her or IM her. Problem is, if I so much as LOOK at her profile in people search I lose any ability to use the keyboard in SL. I can't IM her, I can't talk to people nearby, I can't press E to fly. I have cleared cache and this still happens, but ONLY WITH THIS ONE PERSON.

Is it okay to name names here if she's not someone I have a problem with, and I just want to know if this breaks other people too? You fix it by re-logging...

That is the oddest thing I have ever heard of. Her profile is possesed! I think naming names might be ok but to be safe you can PM someone to check for you to see if it happens to them too. Just odd.

First thing that comes to my mind is the web tab. If you have "automatically load web profiles" on profiles enabled, for God's sake turn it off!

yes, it happened to me a few days ago! I was loking at my partners profile...and then poof no typing ability...had to relog...reboot...and it went away...then happened a while later whilst looking at my OWN profile lol (im a profile noser lol)

Well I did some testing and, I can log on with my alt on the same computer and SHE can IM this person without breaking, and Wildefire can log on using my other computer and IM the person as well. One person IMmed me in-world to help and she had no problem looking at this person's profile either.

*shrugs*

Not enough info for me to file a jira over, I'm afraid.

Now, a few people have mentioned that web page auto-load feature to me- but should that be a problem if I never look at their web tab? With this person, I only have to see her 2nd Life tab to get messed up.

Also, I tried getting there from New Search and that just ultimately takes you to the People Search profile, which is the one that breaks me.

One thing I haven't tried yet on Wilde is seeing whether clearing cache and cookies on the Web preferences makes a difference. Will try that later on, but going to bed for now. Thanks folks...

Pretty certain the web is accessed from starting the profile. I opened someone's a while back and immediately got a soundstream that their web link provided.
