I have searched for this information to no avail....maybe my search abilities are in need of some help, but at any rate I have yet to figure this out. Someone told me I needed a vote box and had me take a copy of theirs, I put this up, and had a few votes...still no listing......
Can anyone please (oh pretty please!) give me help or directions or an understanding of how this works??
Thank a million in advance,
A bewildered,
Ayanna Slade

No. Check the box in the options in About Land. It will cost 30L/wk.

Christalle, Thank You! That was just way too simple!! It's no wonder I couldn't figure it out Too bad the grid is down for maintenance.....so I can't go run and look right now Well, I probably wouldn't have taken the time to post and ask if it hadn't gone down for maintenance Ayanna

On the same subject, why can I NEVER find clubs etc in Places? I type in Drop Zone (say), and back comes 'Nothing found'. In fact, I would go so far as to say that I almost never use the Places tab in SEarch as it just doesn't seem to function the way I would expect.
Is it too much to ask, that if you know part of the name of any place in SL, the Place Search should return it? Otherwise, what's the point of it?

Do you have the "Mature" checkbox checked in your "Search"? It's a tiny little checkbox beneath the actual area where you "type in" what you are trying to search for. 2. The place you are searching for has to be paying 30 lindens a week to be listed in Search to begin with (are you certain they are doing that?). Places are not listed in Search by default. The clubs you are looking for are probably not paying 30 lindens a week to be listed (it's an About Land checkbox that needs to be toggled on, as stated below). 3. Are you sure you're spelling the club name right?

As was already pointed out, it's under "About Land" and costs L$30 a week. Worth it though, IMO -- way mroe than classifieds. I jes got my plant stand an my kids' store listed last weekend, an it has made a difference. Mari

I too have the land on the sim listed in the places
on the note of searches, does the following happen to anyone else...
go to the all tab, type in a search for something that consists of more than one word, then hit search
and all that seems to come up(for me) is groups
no land no stores no names just groups.

It's a shame the option to order by type isn't there ... hopefully they'll put that back in sometime.
I seem to be having trouble getting things listed tho ... I suspect a lot of people don't tick the mature box ...

I suggest that residents move to get a useful Search facility that lists all SL places as a simple useful feature to help residents find their way around. What next, a Map that doesn't include land areas that haven't paid their rent?

What next, a Map that doesn't include land areas that haven't paid their rent? So you want the search to list EVERY parcels that exist in SL? including all the stupid 16m add plots? Because that's what would happen if search would include every parcels in existence. That's why you have to check the option on and pay the 30L/week to get your parcel listed in Search.

From: Annabelle Babii I really don't want my bedroom listed in search, thank you I keep getting newbies showing up in my house for sex and getting upset when I tell them to leave. Now I wonder if mine is listed. I'll have to check when the grid comes back online. http://forums.secondlife.com/images/icons/icon10.gifTalking

Hmm, it seems like I remember something about LL changing the places search code so that it would only search for complete search terms instead of partial ones. For example, in People Search, you can locate me by just entering a partial name, say: "wild walc" I think you used to be able to do that with places search, but not anymore. I could be under the influence again, of course.
