Hi folks,
If I use this options will it push objects created and owned by others outside my parcel or it will prevent future entry of objects that I don't own?
I got some nice objects there and I dont want to push them out, just to prevent potential garbage dumping
Alex.

I've seen people plop half a house through someone else's land - land that had no object entry set - by having the root prim on their own land...
As near as I can tell, object entry does nothing.
A person 2 parcels over from me in Zindra did that to the person 1 parcel over, and the house sat there for three weeks through repeated ARs and other methods to try and force it out, as it was going right through the person next to me's build...

I have a dog that's a scripted object (VKC). If land is set to "object entry," I can walk through and have my dog walk with me, even though I can't rez him there. I can rez him only if the land is set to build. I don't know of other uses for "object entry," but perhaps others do?

Object entry means just that. When enabled, objects can me moved into the sim/parcel. If disabled, everything will get stuck at the border.
Unless, of course, the root prim still hasn't crossed.

Unless, of course, the root prim still hasn't crossed. ...and if nobody's sitting on it. If somebody's sitting on it, it's a 'vehicle' and object entry doesn't apply.

Cool, Can someone pls tell me what will happen to objects that are owned by others when I disable object entry? Will they stay on the parcel or they will be pushed and hey pushed where to the neighbors plot or my plot next to it? And what is root prim? Alex.

When you disable object entry, it will have no effect on any objects already inside the parcel. It will only prevent the entry of new objects. That sounds simple, but it's a bit more complex. It won't prevent the entry of an object on which someone is sitting. It will prevent someone from using Edit to move an object into the parcel. It will prevent a moving physical object (on which nobody is sitting) from entering. However..... An object is only inside a parcel if its *centre* is inside the parcel. In the case of a single-prim object, that is the centre of the prim. In the case of an object composed of a linked set of prims, the centre of the object is the centre of one of the prims in the set. That prim is the root prim. Soooooo.......... A neighbour could place a large object with the centre of the root prim on their land. THe other prims linked to that root prim could extend right across your land. They could cover your land with objects, but none of those objects might be *in* your land as far as the sim software is concerned.

And unless they've very recently fixed it, once those child prims get across the lline, unlinking them from the root prim leaves them in your parcel, happily consuming your primcount. Turning off object entry very rarely has a desirable effect.

Just set autoreturn, and don't worry about turning off object entry and build.

Problem is....
"....I got some nice objects there and I dont want to push them out, just to prevent potential garbage dumping..."
If the OP has inherited some objects, owned by a.n.others and wants to keep them, then Autoreturn will make for unhappy.

She (she?) could find out who made them and show her appreciation by buying new copies. /me has sorta been in this situation before. IMO, the best bet is to bite the bullet, get copies of stuff you own on your land, and enable autoreturn. If they're not too, too expensive, that is. This is, long term, usually cheaper than the hassle of policing your land.
