Hi dear friends,

I have the chat line as an entry in my IM window and can't figure out how to get it off the IM window. I like to keep them seperate. Any suggestions how to do that?

Very much appreciate your wisdom.

Penguins! Have you ever wondered why there are no dead penguins on the ice in Antartica? Wonder no more. It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life.

The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well as maintaining a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life. If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried. The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing: 'Freeze A Jolly Good Fellow....'

Are you sure it is Chat in the IM window rather than IMs in the Chat window -- or maybe just multiple tabs in the window? As far as I know, there is no way for any Local Chat to show in an IM window.

The Communications box can have multiple tabs and if you want them to be separate windows, you click the little symbol next the X for "that" tab and that will undock and you can move it around as you please -- click it again to redock it back to the main window.

If it is IM lines showing in the Local Chat tab/window, then Edit Preferences and go to the Communications tab -- there are options there for whether or not to show IM text in the Local Chat window.

This was split into separate settings in 1.23 for the main console and chat history, one is in preferences but the other is only available from Advanced->Debug Settings. LL has tried changing Im display a few times over the years, and no matter what combination they pick, someone is unhappy with it.

In that debug window, play with IMInChatConsole and IMInChatHistory until you get the combination you want.

Those are both in Preferences on the Communication tab now. The "Include IM in chat console" is in the upper half of that tab, above the "Busy Mode Response" window. Then "Show incoming IM in Local Chat Log" is down under the "Save a Log of Local Chat on my computer".
