Are there products available the make terraform easier instead of using the default terrain editor. If so what exactly should i be searching for on xstreet like what keywords or creator of these types of products.

Huh. I just searched for "terraform" and got a bunch of results, but as far as I can understand the descriptions, I'm not finding one that acts the way I'd expect, based on what the scripting language supports. Frankly, I don't see any advantage of these things over using the terrain tool itself, nor much practical difference from the free open source Land Editor in the Scripting Library (/15/4e/148705/1.html).

I would have expected--and I find it difficult to believe it doesn't exist--is something that takes an externally-developed 3D model (perhaps a RAW file, as used for establishing the ground surface of private islands) and applies it to the existing terrain, within the limits of terraforming on that terrain.

At the very least, I'd have expected that it would record what terraforming was done, so it could automatically apply that terrain again.

I'm really interested in whether others have found products that do something like this (particularly the latter: I'm always wishing for an "undo" command for the terrain tool :(). If it's really the case that nothing like this exists, I'm tempted to get busy scripting one.

There is nothing inworld to make that easier for mainland, other than a prim with the land leveler script in it. If you are talking about terraforming a private estate, it is easier to use an editor such as Terragen and make a .RAW file. Or you can buy .RAW files from texture stores like Textures R Us.

At least now i know i am not the only one having difficulty finding something like this that actually works the way one owuld hope it to work. I did find something on xstreet called the terraformer 1.03, but am paranoid to pay 2k for something that may not even work well even though it does seem to have raving reviews. sighs, guess i will just have to wing it and cross my fingers while i attempt to terraform with the built in tools. ty for you insight into this

do a search for
Skidz Partz - Dozer System

they are not as fast as the terra forming tools in the 1.21 update but you can set a bunch off in one direction and they will raise or lower or flatten at the heights you put them at.
just don't forget to shut them off..i had one run over a whole region i was working on one time and had to go back and repair like 3 sims hahaha
