I have a situation where a loiterer in an ominous looking avatar is disturbing a tenant. When I checked on it the loiterer seemed unresponsive and has been there for at least 5 hours now. The avatar is in a neighboring sim so I can not eject or ban him from the land. I will try again to communicate with the individual, however if he does not respond should I AR the avatar and recommend the tenant does the same, should I contact the owner of the land the avatar is on? What are my and my tenants options?

Hm.
What leads you to believe this avatar is doing anything wrong? _____________________

Try paying him 1L. Sometimes that will kick a logged out AV off the grid.

lol, what makes him ominous looking? could it be a bot? i used to have neighbors that ran a gorean fort and had several slaves, sometimes the slaves would randomly end up in my store, fully nude except for the ropes that tied their hands behind their back

Please describe this "disturbing a tenant" situation. I disturb a lot of people with my appearance and personality and it's hardly an ARable offense. If it's just a freaky looking avatar standing there one sim over... It's just that. There are a minimum of three other directions your tenant can face and find something else to offend. (=_=)y

Hm. What leads you to believe this avatar is doing anything wrong? Agreed While you could IM the owner of the land the avatar is on it would be up to them to do or not do anything at all about it. I get loiterers on my land all the time just standing for hours on the seabed. Unless they are obviously doing something wrong, I just leave them be. |

Try paying him 1L. Sometimes that will kick a logged out AV off the grid. If that doesn't work, pay ME L$ 1,000. I'll get rid of him for you, or at least make sure he is no longer objectionable. _____________________

I grant you there is no evidence of wrong doing on the part of the avatar there than being freaky looking, however don't like tenants being disturbed. I honestly don't know much as it was reported to my partner at 4AM this morning, so the other part is waiting for the tenant to come on. Honestly, likely not a big deal but have a lot on my plate already so the tiniest things tend to seem huge.
Thank you for your replies. |

If he is unresponsive for 5 hours he may be a ghost. Occasionally an avatar will remain visible in SL even after the owner has logged off, the server misses the cue to delete them. Sometimes they can remain for days until the sim is restarted or the owner returns to the same sim.

I've seen similar things happen when I eject people.. They sorta just go afk, sometimes for hours, wherever they land.
I'm convinced that they're spying on me and plotting revenge. If he is unresponsive for 5 hours he may be a ghost. Occasionally an avatar will remain visible in SL even after the owner has logged off, the server misses the cue to delete them. Sometimes they can remain for days until the sim is restarted or the owner returns to the same sim. You can usually tell if it's a ghost by checking the minimap (ghosts often don't have a green dot) and/or by trying to walk/fly though them. If you bump into them, they're not a ghost. _____________________

When I see loiterers/visitors, call them what you like, I go over and chat. I've got a rather good conversion ratio of selling them a plot.
There's also a girl that frequently seems to be wandering around changing her clothes. Big deal, as long as she or anyone else isn't being malicious, it makes no difference to me. No need to be so quick to assume bad thing or that anyone shouldn't be welcome. |

I have a bubble gun you can shoot someone with, it wraps them in a bubble which then floats away. It usually drops them not to far away, but you can repeat this process until they are in a less annoying location.

Since when it is illegal to loiter in SL? He's not on your land, not your problem.

Nuke him from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
In all seriousness, if that person is "loitering" on their own land, or even land outside of your or your renter's purview, then there is little you can do about this situation. _____________________

is the land next door build? always fun to dress up afk people
if it's really bothering you push him it of view and if it's really really annoying you, file a support ticket to get a sim re-start, if it's a ghost, that'll get rid of it -Crunch _____________________

You can buuild on your side of the property, right? Plywood box...stretch, flatten, BANG! He's standing behind a plywood wall. Might as well be invisible. Problem solved.
Or, go decorate him. Better yet, can you push him across region lines? If so, push him onto your property and do whatever you would normally do. Ban, mute, eject, orbit, set ablaze, distort, cage, and tickle. Of course, for some guy who just went AFK while he was standing on his property in his region, not really doing anything wrong, that seems awfully excessive, doesn't it? Why not just tell your renters to chill out a little. I'm frequently loitering and AFK on my land. I'd be kind of irritated if someone told me I didn't have the right to do that, and with all the land griefing going on out there, the sight of me just standing there, staring off into space while I'm going to the bathroom or grabbing a Diet Coke in RL had better not be offensive to my neighbors, or they're going to have a heart attack if they ever leave their plot. _____________________

Really, I have had creepy neighbors and just shrugged it off. This is SL, one's person's idea of creepy might be my idea of cute and cuddly. And those darned pink ponies are NOT cute nor cuddly. They bite.. lots and hard. _____________________

Probably not a ghost then. I've forgotten to log out now and then and found my avatar had been pushed out into the "bay" and such. Advice: ignore it, it's only pixels, especially if it's silent. |
