Why is it so hard to find stuff with search?

I'm looking through events to try to find out whats going on today and it seems almost every other thing I do that I know has tons of events going on comes back with "none found". I even did a random test and it did the same thing. For instance, I typed in DJ. Tons of stuff came up. I picked a single DJ's name, then searched events for that. "None Found". I heard about a market thing going on this week and searched for that. Took searching about 7 different words before it came up, and 3 of the words were in the event's title. Why is it so hard to use search to find stuff?

Chalk that one up to businesses and event owners trying to 'beat' the new SEARCH ALL. Before search all, my two stores were in the top 25 of their keyword (not saying, not going to abuse the forum advertising). Now, with every high traffic club keyword-loading unrelated items, I am on page 4 or 5....the top 10 entries on my keyword which is technological? Sex places, clubs, RP sims that have NOTHING to do with the topic, yet crammed the keyword into their listings. :(

Under SEARCH ALL and using the same keyword, I am on page 1 and page 2 with 2 stores...aboout the same number of physical entries down as I was before the big names decided to keyword load. I'd love to see the labs get off their dead a**es and roll the new search out to all tabs, which would mean high traffic porno clubs would not show up in the top 10 for every known keyword.

Its not!

The new search is fixed now.

Any problems you are having must be all in your head.

PS - I have problems finding stuff now too, but I must also be imagining things. Since after all it is fixed.

Because it typically gives 503 errors just like the forums and web site.

Kidding... kinda.

I too find the search all a bit tough to use. I usually get results though, they just aren't accurate. Like mentioned, there must be some strange formula that people are using to get themselves listed first. I want to find a good place to look for men's clothing (for example) and I end up next to this tiny shop just because there are 24 campers outside doing jumping jacks or mopping the street. All the real good stuff seems to be back on page 10+

If you have a hard time finding things with Google, SL's Search will be difficult, too.

I like to browse Flickr pictures and occasionally find that someone's posted their new product's advertising artwork. Sometimes, I find something that I'd actually like to buy. Yesterday was such a case. I only had the product name and maybe the name of the store. As it turned out, I had neither, but was nonetheless able to find the product in about 5 minutes, 4 or 5 different keyword searches, and one teleport to see. The store didn't have a classified under any name related to the one I had, nor a listing in Places, but did have someone who'd put it in their Picks. I think that's pretty good search capability. Me likey.
