Hi,
I want to see if a friend of mine will do a build for me, I've been trying for a week or so and it's to big in size and I just have some creative block about it... also I have bought a lot of textures for it, if she does do it for me, is it ok to pass these tex's over to her inventory or do I keep them and tex it myself (tex copyright etc)
So to pay her, what is a fair price for this kind of thing?
-------------------
Also while I am opening a string, I have another question, I thought of starting my own little shop, but yeh I am still slow at building, and got pretty scattered trying to think up a logo vendor boxes and ads, all that... for the small amount of actual output seems silly..
Someone told me there was a dress shop that many creators put their stuff into, Pixel dolls or Pixie Dolls, or something like that.
Does anyone know of some big brand that will take in small builders and resell on and if so how that works...
Thanks in advance.

Hi Ian;
A fair wage for building something big - I'd say at least $5000 Lindens. But you could ask in a builder's group - which also might be a good place to seek someone to do the work, if your friend can't or you'd rather hire a stranger.
As for the textures, I'd ask the person who made them, if you really want to be on the safe side. Or, if you don't mind texturing (I have heard a lot of people say they loathe it), you could do it yourself, sure.
The shop is called Pixel Dolls, fwiw.
There are a lot of malls that will rent space to you on a commission. I'd start by searching out the type of product that is close to your own, and see if the malls they are in have space to let.
You can also offer people the chance to resell your products in a resale vendor they can place in their own shop/on their own land. Just set the information up in your shop once you get space. You can also sell on XStreet for almost nothing. It might be a good way to start.

Thanks Clarissa, Yeh, I did actually post the same question to a group, I got some answers there too as to how it works and have seen some pretty capable shop people and their set ups, some are quite amazing, I'm really relieved to realise I can probably go this way, the making of a shop & biz seems so full of admin, way to much for me. I have to find out if in general it is ok to put ones things in with a few retailers or stay exclusive to one and also is one price ok if you do go with a few or can it vary per retailer... The girl I had in mind for building is a friend who does incredible stuff with big sizes, she really has a way about laying out a plan and getting a great flow though a real free flowing thing happens in her builds. I don't texturing and already have bought a tonne for this project anyway, so yeh. I'd rather over pay than under pay her for sure... I was kind of guessing around 5 as well, maybe more as it's her particular style I so like. Thanks again.

From: Clarissa Lowell Or, if you don't mind texturing (I have heard a lot of people say they loathe it), you could do it yourself, sure. Oh, wow - texturing's one of the fun parts! It can be fiddly, but once you get it right... amazing how it clicks into place! Ian, what you and Clarissa are suggesting sounds fair, thought of course it depends on a number of factors - like how complicated/involved the build is, and how long it takes and how picky you are, and what you intend to do with it when it's done. (If it's a house or shop for you, that's a different thing than if it's something you plan to sell or rent out, at least in my opinion.) I'm not sure on the ethics of giving her the textures to do the job. Technically, it's probably a violation to pass them on to her. If you bought them for the build, and she deletes them when she'd through, I'd say there's no harm done - but that doesn't necessarily make it ethical. I guess if she gives you the right to modify her objects, you could slap the textures on and she could adjust size and repeats, but that sounds like a pain... I can't see anything wrong with selling your products through multiple outlets, but I'd keep the prices on each item the same across the board. Otherwise, it doesn't seem fair to the vendor trying to sell it at a higher price, and I think your customers will feel ripped off if they find it for a lower price somewhere else after they've already bought it. I wouldn't risk it.

I've had pretty varying offers on the split with commission, so I'll just get an average from that I guess. Thank you, eh, Nic..
