New to 2nd Life need help

Hi everyone, I have a question. I am brand new to 2nd life and when I first came into the game I was in an area where there was an info area with a big board full of freebee items. After obtaining a few of them I went to another place and say a portal that said enter 2nd life and I did so. How can I get back to that original area that I was in when I logged into 2nd life for the first time?

Do you have any note card or landmarks of the first place you were?
Have you tried clicking the button teleport home? I think it's in world tab or near it.
Sorry I don't have screen in front of me to remember exactly where it is.

I don't think you can go back.

There is orientation islands.When I had new alt last month I think I was sent to some new island it look like Weather island or something. It isn't like the old orientation islands any more.
I suggest you hang out at NCI or the shelter, lots of classes and stuff daily for new citizens or just explore using Search for things that might interest you.

Welcome to SL Dierdre. You can't go back to where you first were, which sounds like a Help Island. However, there are a couple of public versions which are almost identical. Search for Help Island by opening the Map and typing Help Island into the Region box, you want to go to go Help Island Public.

Alternatively try searching for NCI, the Shelter or Help People Institute in the Places tab of the Search box. All of them have plenty of good freebies, tutorials and, more importantly, friendly helpful people who will be able to answer questions and get you used to this place.

I'll second Wulfric's advice. The Help Isand you started out on is only there to teach you the very basics of Second Life. NCI or The Shelter will have freebies and real people who enjoy helping new people with any questions you might have. There is also a place called The Forum Cartel Hangout ... and congratulations, by posting here you are now part of the cartel

There are alos places with top end hair and (I think) skins that give one free to new people. You should be able to get a voucher and a landmark to the stores at NCI or The Shelter. The FC Hangout has had some remodeling and I'm not sure where the Freebies and vouchers are.

The freebie board on the Help Islands where new residents arrive is the same one you'll find at all the NCI locations, so yes: search for NCI (or New Citizens) and you'll come across the same board.

Dierdre, there are also lots better freebie items out there. Check the board, sure. But then do a search for:

The Free Dove

and

Freebie Haven

and

Yadni's Junkyard

and

Freebie Warehouse

...and you'll probably find lots of others, too.

if you have chat logging enabled you can open the txt and look for the lines that look like 'teleport completed from blah/128/128/0'

bad thing about yadnis and many of the others is that you end up with thousands of folders of crap in your inv.
