Buying a private island: need to upgrade holdings/tier?

I want to buy a private island from LL. I have a premium membership but I have tier set at US$0/month on my account page. At the moment I rent land on a private island from someone else.

On the Land Use Fees page it says: Note: Island billing is separate from land use fees.

I know a private island costs 295 USD tier. But does this mean I can keep the tier on my account page at US$0/month or do I need to upgrade it to US$195.00/month for an entire region before I buy the sim?

Hi Paulo

yes you can keep the tier at $0/month. You would only need to change that to $195/mo if you were buying a mainland sim, rather than an island

Tiers are for PUBLIC sims. Island billing is separate. You don't want to tier up to $195/month (unless you want to try to get a full public sim -- good luck, and even IF you did you wouldn't have control of the sim... only the land as a "normal" resisdent).

$295/month, or whatever islands cost now, is what you'd pay to maintain your holdings on said island. (don't forget islands cost ~$1600 to setup (includes first month's $295 fee, if I recall correctly)
