SL has just eaten all my stuff :(

I've just bought a parcel of land, built some stuff there and put lots of my inventory objects in it.

However, later I decided I'd start again, so I clicked the "Return" button.

It said "Do you wish to return all 207 items to your inventory", and I said yes.

It certainly took all 207 items, but only put about six of them back in my inventory.

Misleading message, really. If it had said "Do you wish SL to steal all your property?", I would probably have answered "No".

Is there any way of getting this back, or does the $8,000 or so I've spent on these goods count as a "donation" to LL?

Hi Damien. Did you check your lost and found folder? Chances are most of the stuff has been placed in there as one object.

Sounds like they coalesced your inventory into one object. See if you see what looks like a multi-bricked object in your inventory, rez that and it may very well all be there. Took me forever to figure that out. Good luck.

How distressing! But don't despair yet. Use tools>bug reporting>report bug to let the Lindens know. And then wait. I think sometimes there is just a lag between clicking return and having it all show up again in your inventory. I hope so.
No doubt people who know more than I do will be here soon to offer their help.

See Rosie's post. Those six or so objects will actually be collections of objects collectivly named for the last thing SL happened to grab in that group. Just drag it back to the ground and it will rez just like it was before you returned it all.

I recently was trying to just return my own objects on group land.
For some reason it didn't know that.
I end up removing more then what I wanted and I saw no pop up.
Return literally means return which goes to lost and found in big box of mumble jumbled of stuff.
FD sends a very gay rainbow type of wave to Damien and say"Hello, are you new? If so welcome to SL"

If the stuff on your land is made by you, make sure you take a copy of the latest version to keep in the inventory. If a building is too big to link as a single object, make it into 2 or 3, then 'take' it all as a clump.

I remember the time when it took me two days to figure out all my house and stuff had gone into...a Moroccan tea glass in my inventory....that was BEFORE they introduced the nice icon that actually shows you something is more than one object...

No, unfortunately not, tho I would have needed one....half my living room ended up on my neighbour's parcel, there was stuff high up in the air I only found later, I got parts auto-returned from god knows where....fun for all the family!

I have lost my shoes again, did you find them in there?
