Allow me to present a purely hypothetical question. Say you're an established premium- perhaps even concierge- resident but at one time you created an unverified alternate account, and maybe you provided some false personal info at sign-up because you were under the impression that Linden Lab still imposed a 5-accounts-per-household limit (Or was it 3? At any rate, they no longer do.) and maybe you even were under the mistaken impression that alt accounts had to be monthly-subscribed premiums (when in fact the only required fee is/was a one-time charge of $9.95). Now say that you've learned that your assumptions were incorrect, and you've grown concerned about the many stories you've heard lately about residents being autobanned for completely innocuous things, and it now seems prudent to "go legit" and make sure all your accounts have correct and up-to-date personal information.
How, I ask, might you go about righting those wrongs? The My Account page offers no way to give real-life street address, name, or birth date. I'm sure this hypothetical- and perfectly well-intentioned, by the way- resident would be happy to pay that one-time charge- perhaps even going so far as signing up for another premium account- if only she were able to correct the admittedly misleading information she gave Linden Lab at sign-up.
There is a related question: Lots of people have been getting auto-banned-without-notice lately for giving money to other avatars. (Most recently a well-known conceirge member was banned for paying another resident L$1000. Yes. L$1000.) Are you more likely to get autobanned for giving money to an unverified alt with incorrect contact information, or for giving it to a properly-registered alt of yours?

My understanding is that all accounts for the same person need to have the same email address and payment info. Payment info, if you use CC, will include name and street address. Look for the "Contact info" and the "Update payment method" links on the right side of the screen.

The two most recent known cases are here: http://forums.secondcitizen.com/showthread.php?t=18918and http://forums.secondcitizen.com/showthread.php?t=18322At least these people were lucky enough to be concierge members, and thus eventually got re-instated.

She's still (hypothetically) concerned about any flattering birthdates or whimsical RL names she might have entered at sign-up time though.

Um the banning, if its the incident I believe is being referred to, was for rapid fire multiple payments of L$ 1000 to several people who participated in testing a script. It was a freeze of the account in order to review for possible gambling activities (ie, rapid payouts to winners).
As for fixing the stray info alt, honesty has always been reputed to be the best policy. If you know anyone who can ask concierge on your behalf, perhaps they could do so without naming names. If I happen to be on live chat any time soon, I'll inquire and let you know what I hear.

From: Asher Bertrand My understanding is that all accounts for the same person need to have the same email address and payment info. Gosh, I hope not! If I'd followed that rule, I'd have never been able to pay tier when my CC company decided LL was a bunch of deadbeats. Luckily I had alts who could pay using alternate payment info while the wheels of LL's outsourced payment info system spun mindlessly amok.

I regularly donate more more than $L1000 to another Avatar for education with no trouble. I think there has to be a flag up about this resident for this to trigger an autoban.

I talked to LL on the phone, and they corrected all the information for me (they won't do it via email or support ticket. They need to talk to you in person for verification). Was not a problem, though I felt a little sheepish admitting I has used incorrect RL name!

And here http://forums.secondcitizen.com/showthread.php?t=18978 and here http://forums.secondcitizen.com/showthread.php?t=18918 it seems to be happening more than it should. These more recent instances were not as explainable as Cory's, as they involved payments to far fewer people. Now I'm afraid to send any money at all to my alts, even if it's just to test payment scripts. Has Linden Lab offered any explanations for these bannings, or adjusted their auto-ban routines so that innocent residents aren't denied several days of access?

Let's not forget the person who was banned for trying to buy her friend a gift: http://forums.secondcitizen.com/showthread.php?t=15915Or the person who was banned for using LindeX: http://forums.secondcitizen.com/showthread.php?t=18491So, all of us are at some risk of getting banned for no good reason. Some of us are just looking for the best way to improve our odds of keeping our accounts.

From: Heinie Fan So, all of us are at some risk of getting banned for no good reason. Some of us are just looking for the best way to improve our odds of keeping our accounts. I'd like to hear an official statement from LL on this, and hopefully a promise to review and revise their audit routines to protect innocent residents. This can have a very chilling effect on business transactions in SL, and that's NOT good for the grid.
