You may try getting the Mystitool, they have a free version at the store. The full version costs around 450L. It has a tool which you can use to detect chat bugs among others. Look for Mystitool in Search.

Mystitool is nice to have. But the chat bug finder finds all scripts running in an area. So any your employers or you have running will show up too. If you spot a script belonging to someone else, get rid of it. Solves the bug problem. The full version of the tool also has an object identifier, when the idiots are using a mimic to make someone in the club to say something. The ID'r will let you know who is using the object doing the speaking.

Chat Bugs:
Things like Mystitool that point to scripts are "okay" but easily confused by an area busy with other scripts, and can not tell between an AO and a chat bug.

Instead use the ABOUT LAND menu and OBJECTS tab. Look for names that only have 1 prim out. Esspecially if that person has no reason to have prims there, it's a very good indicator.

Chat bugs are easy to defeat. Turn off Build. No Build, no chat bugs.

Weapons:
Ctrl+Alt+T to highlight transparent.

The R-Click on the reddish hidden prims and select INSPECT off the pie chart. This will tell you who made that particular item. Known weapons makers will become second nature to spot after time.

Time and experiance is really the only way to really spot "weapons" in SL. Why? Because I can make a weapon as a HUD that you can't "see" in any way shape or form, or even just conceal it as sunglasses or a cup of coffee if I need in-world prims for cetain scripts.

Running Security:
If you want to run security, first thing to do is to print out the ToS and CS and read them front to back, word for word. Then read it again and highlight sections you think are relevant to Security. Then read it a third time and make notes of your own personal understanding of the rules/regs in the sidebars. Then go and find a Linden or submit a Support Ticket with any quetions you may have. Be sure to tell them you are looking at becomeing Security and want to ensure you follow the rules because asking some questions may seem "suspicious" if LL doesn't know WHY you are asking such.

If you don't know the rules, you have no buisness being in Security, so learn them, know them, and know what you can, and can not do.

Then go search for security gear and items as well as "spy gear" and "weapons" and "security scanners" and anything else you can think of that relates to either security or to griefers. Learn both sides. Don't buy anything (at least not at first) jsut collect information (notecards are given buy most sellers of such items).

Then, if you think you need a specific type of gear (like a scanner), look around at ALL you can find for what suits you best. Above all else make sure everything you are planning to use is ToS COMPLIANT!!

Aside from that, it takes time to learn the MO of griefers. To learn to see them comming before they do what they plan to do, and to create contingincy plans for when things fall in the toilet.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.
