Okay, had it before and it is worse then ever today.

Once I log in and everything is rezzed, things go well for about 10-15 minutes. From that moment on, as soon as I face the center of my parcel I can hardly move. But it does happen as well at other parcels, as long as I am there long enough.

So I log off and clear cache, and the whole circus starts all over again. So it has got to do with the cache, I would say, as long as cache is not full it seems to go okay. Might try a 4 gig cache or so :-)

Any opinions on what could be the problem, and more important: how to solve it?

SL in general has been a lagfest for several days, Marcel. I've been shutting down as much of the graphics as possible.

Do you have another drive you can move the cache folder to? There may be a problem with your drive.

Nope my laptop only has 1 drive :( I could try and put my cache on either an usb stick of course.
My lagging has got nothing to do with SL lagging it seems HoneyBear, it really is cache related as far as I can tell. It is weird that as soon as my cache is filled (at least that seems to be the case) the lagging starts. I am searching for the optimized adapter settings for the dreaded 945GM card...

DOnt ask me where I read this because I think it was in the the thread from H*LL on the OS debate. But someone mentioned a known bug thats supposed to be on the jira that is causing massive cache problems that are actually looping back into SL and overloading the back end systems as well as individual machine. I am wondering if you arent having a slightly different problem that might be related to that one and possibly hardware specific.

I don't know if this will work for you, but I've noticed that when SL gets bogged down for me, if I do a 'fake' tp - the kind that tells you it can't teleport you any closer to your destination - my lag clears up. I have no idea why this would be, but it works nearly every time.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I bet you it is the texture load on your video card. Smells like 1024x's all over if you ask me.

The Jira entry you are referring to can be found here.

Well thanks you people for all the useful information.

What I did is installing the latest driver (my laptop manufacturer had no update, but I used the driver from Intel), and I changed the 3D settings a bit according to some Jira entries I found.

One of the most important things I found, is that if you use the full texture cache of 224 MB in SL (for my card, that is), you get problems as soon as you reach exactly that size. Advice was to set the cache size lower then the maximum graphic memory of the adapter. So I changed it to 128 MB.

Too soon to scream victory, but the combination of the above changes seems to have worked. I have been around for a while in my store to put lamps in (hate a dark store) and at no given time I saw performance drop. Visitors find that the shop is lag free as well, but that always has been the case. So I really hope this time I do have the solution, it is kind of stupid not to be able to move in your own store :D
