Traffic

Hello

If I use the 'search' tab I get a list of places with their 'traffic' . I assume traffic shows how busy they are.

However I often find nobody is there when I call, even at the busiest places.

What is 'traffic', and is there a way of finding out how many people are there (other than by tp-ing)

Thanks

You may try clicking on the Show In Map button. The map will open and show you the location. If you have it enabled, each avatar there will appear as a green dot on the map. However, it doesn't make a distinction between bots and actual customers.

Traffic is avatar minutes on/over the parcel in the previous 24 hour period. It was originally intended as a guage of a parcel's popularity, but it hasn't been useful for that purpose for years, so now it just shows avatar minutes, which can be camping avatars, bots, and even real people avatars.

The green dots you can see on the map give no indication about the nature of the avatars. They couild be bots, campers/camping bots, real people, or a mix of those. Even stacked green dots don't indicate their nature because it's low resolution, and the dots are placed to 256m resolution. A busy club, with real people, would look very much like a group of bots, for instance. The only real way to find out is to go the place.

And sometimes even the busiest areas have slow times. Usually, the non-bot/non-camping areas generate their traffic numbers in spurts, by holding events at certain times of the day. If there is an area that you really like, check it out at different times of the day or check the events section for their events.

As for bot/camping driven places? You'll see a large number of dots, but not find a single person to talk to. By talk to, I mean, you chat/IM them and they don't respond... or they're all pretty much Ruth styled and are stacked like sardines in an out of the way area, then you've probably hit on a bot spot.
