Is it possible to show Webpages InWorld

Wondering if it is possible to display a single webpage inworld as it appears in your browser with images etc. (not as a captured texture - dynamically updating)? I guess kind of a browser for display of 1 page for a kiosk.

If so, can someone point me to a product that will do this?
Or a scripter that will do it...

Thanks for your help.

The only way I've found is to have my website in my profile. I would be interested in whatever anyone else has to say too.

We've been promised 'HTML On A Prim' for years now.

Yet another example of Linden vaporware, like Havok 2.

Oh, wait, we're getting Havok 4. Perhaps there is hope after all. :p

The best you can do is to render stuff into a quicktime movie and stream that. You get updatable images, but no interaction, so it is at best a slide show and kinda hard to get working.

There have been some LL announced intentions for "HTML on a prim" but it keeps not happening.

Yes. All the time.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

I seem to remember someone did do 'webpage' on a prim once but not 'html' - i.e. rendered the webpage into an image and displayed that.

ESC's new viewer for the CSI tie in does indeed appear to allow you to see a webpage inworld.

It doesn't look like html on a prim. More like the ability to launch a browser inside the SL client. Which would be nice to have. I wonder if they integrate their item search in it.

It´s common knowledge that Web pages can transmit viruses. I think this is the reason it´s not implemented yet. If a virus was inside a displayed image, any susceptible client that loaded that image would get the virus.

We don´t want that, do we?

Hmmm not sure if this is what you mean

To launch a web page in your browser from inside SL - Go to my shop, grab a copy of my 'Shoppe on On Rez' catalog, take it home rez and click it. It will open up my shop web page in your browser while you are in SL.

I also have a magazine there that when clicked it will open up the Mens Second Style web page.

As well as I have a necklace there that is a gift, when clicked opens up the SL Men web page.

My 'Mhaijik signature tag' necklace is for sale, which when clicked opens up a link to my blog.

But again I am not sure if this is what you mean by opening a web page from within SL on your browser.

HTML on a prim is but one outcome of a much, much larger and more ambitious undertaking, effectively re engineering media handling from the ground up.. it looks very promising:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Media_on_a_parcel

Callum is hoping to have "static" html on a prim rolled by end of year. "static" meaning it won't be interactive yet (no hyperlinks or other interactive functionality).. but if he can pull it off, surely it will be the first milestone in what will be a pretty robust media library and feature set.

You could probably replicate your sites home page, by taking a screen shot and using invis prim buttons that launch the links in the external browser. Just a suggestion

Hi there!
Using llHttpRequest you could probably make an extremely makeshift web-page in Secondlife, but would be hard to do, because you would need many textures ect ect. Keep your eye out for future plans to stream html pages inside SecondLife!
