Permissions - if setting for sale

I am confused about setting permissions re sale and copy - tried the knowledge base to no avail.

If i set an item "for sale" which people can buy just by clicking on it - not via a vendor or any other system, do I need to set permission for "anyone to copy" as well?

Do not set that.

You only need to set the item for sale with a price and then sell either original, copy or contents.

You won't normally sell the original. Sell either a copy or the contents depending on what meakes sense. If you can sell the contents, do so. Then the buyer will not have to unpack a box.

One of the great advantages of having an alt is so you can test your vendors and their permissions.

I'll state it more strongly: If you're going to sell stuff at all, you absolutely need to have an alt or a trustworthy partner to test your vendors and products. Otherwise you risk customer relations disasters.

Furthermore, using an alt is probably the best way to learn how the permissions all interact.

Do not click the "anyone to copy" or they'll be able to copy it for free.

The important part is getting all of the "Next owner can" boxes checked properly for all items in the Contents tab and/or the box itself that you are selling.
