It seems like everyone has their own brand of latex clothing. Is there a standard (free) texture for latex available anywhere? Thanks.

I don't think so.
The appearance of latex is created mainly by shading and highlighting...in most cases, rather extreme highlighting, to indicate the shininess of latex. This has to be done by hand, in Photoshop. _____________________

Or in a 3d app that supports specularthingies and baked goods and stuff. I've seen latex made with Blender and it came out pretty well..

And the good ones are, I think, good not least because the highlighting and shading has been done separately for each component, to mimic the way the the creases and shine would be different on different components of RL outfits.

Agreed, latex in itself doesn't have much of a texture.. pvc or vinyl even less of one. It's all highlighting done by hand or by using software with a specular highlight feature. It's probably one of the easiest textures to make really.

It's probably one of the easiest textures to make really. The big plus to doing it in a 3d app is that you get to save your settings and reuse them later. The learning curve (and sometimes expense) can be a lot higher but makes doing mix & match stuff easier because the reflections are consistant.. _____________________
