Hey everyone :3 so I know a couple shopowners (not personally) that have models or greeters always logged in. I asked one ages ago how thy did it and I believe it was a separate client that had very limited features to it. I know how to run multiples SLs at once, but I was hoping to find a more convenient way of keeping models in he shop without running 3-4 apps at once x.x
thanks in advance for the help <3

if you want the graphical interface several times, just add -multiple to the command line to run in the shortcut.
Some of the non graphical clients take a long time to rez or fail completely leaving the greeter as a fluffy cloud.

I've recently been using 'Radegast', a very similar viewer to Metabolt. More info here: http://radegastclient.org/wp/ and on the SL wiki page on alternate viewers. My old copy of Metabolt had stopped working and I couldn't find a source for a download - although the site is obviously back up. edit: I've never had my alt fail to de-cloud with Radegast, but I usually force a rebake to encourage it anyway.

If MetaBolt is the client I'm remembering, the author decided against rezzing the av because it's a text client like Sleek. With that type of client, there's no need for the av to rez so MetaBolt may still not rez it.

I dunno Phil, Metabolt's a full client on the inworld side.. your AV rezzes and it's got commands to like follow an AV, or you can sit on furniture/objects by commands from a scanned list of your surroundings. Others can see your AV do all that.. even typing in the chat box plays the typing animation inworld. You just don't get the world rendered to the AV's operator.

If by "your av rezzes" you mean that your av is logged in and can be seen then, yes, it logs an avatar in and people can see it. All the thin clients do that - they have to in order to communicate with people, which is basically what they are for. But I remember the maker of Metabolt saying in this forum that he didn't include anything to make the av rez properly (I'm sure it was Metabolt), presumably because, as a thin client, it isn't necessary. The features that you mentioned are built into the OpenMV (libSL) Test Client and are easily implemented in a client like Metabolt, but getting an av past the cloud stage isn't automatic and, even now, is a bit problematic. These thin clients were produced before the clouds arrived. Ruth was the norm then and anything extra, such as shape, skin, clothing, wasn't necessary for the thin clients.
