Hi I'm New and Can't Teleport To Shop For Clothes

I just downloaded Second Life three days ago and am stuck at the very same place i started. For some reason no matter where i attempt to teleport i get rejected. The first thing i am trying to do is find places/ways of editing my avatar and teleport to places that interest me. If anyone could help it would be very much appreciated.

If I remember correctly, you have to complete the tutorials before you can tp out of the welcome center unless someone teleports you out.

When you get rejected, what exactly happens? Do you get the blue progress line across the screen? Where are you trying to TP to?

Also, you start on the Intro Island (I think that's what it's called). You may have to progress through it to the exit, which takes you to Help Island somewhere (Again, from memory...others here are experts). When you get through that and go out the Exit you should be OK. Does any of this sound familiar? I wrote your name down and will try to IM you when I get in world later, if you're logged on. Jackie

I am still on Intro Island, I am here with alot of other confused n00bs trying to find the way out. One time when i would click teleport a blue box screen would come up suggesting that i go to the help site to solve this problem.

No, you still have to complete the intro before you teleport. I created a new Av a few days ago, the first in 4 years and took me 10 mins to work out why I couldnt tp straight out into the world.

aww yes thanks.. i was helped out by someone named "chalise moonlight" and she told me in how to teleport using my inventory and through the search feature. i kept seeing that you guys were sending your responses while i was playing second life.

Now i will just need the hot spots to shop for clothes.

Try some of the big freebie places to begin with - there are a lot of good free things around, as well as a lot of not-so-good ones!

I'm sending you the Newbie packet that's been created by one of our residents here. It's got loads of helpful information, landmarks, and tutorials.

That doesn't sound right. Last Alt I created, I tp'd right out of there as soon as I rezzed. No need for me to do tutorials since I've been here for nearly 2 years.

Anyway, hope you managed to get out of there by now!

You don't have to complete the tutorials...but you can't see places on the Map, and you can't TP out to locations found in Search. You have to either

1) get a tp offer from a friend, or

2) use one of the many exit signs to get a landmark for a Welcome Area and teleport there. (This is the more usual method).

Just wondering . . . last time I escaped without much difficulty it might have been that I managed to tp to somewhere found in Search because I had my Admin options on? But a real newbie would be unlikely to know about those would they?
