I have a pre-paid (visa) card and tried various methods of using it to create a premier account. Paypal, normaly, does not accept pre-paid cards, while the direct use of the card in the billing information of my SL account proved to be equally hopeless.

However, I just managed to purchase L$1000 with this card by Shop.onrez.com, and then I transfered this amount to my avatar, that is to say my SL account.

Now, after all this course, I have the following question:
Could an account be upgraded to premier by using the lindens one has acummulated?

Hope my reasoning does make sense, and some people will provide hints, thoughts, suggestions, or whatever that would enlighten me.

Thanks in advance

When I tried, I couldn't. But that was some 2 years ago. I don't know if it's still the case.

AFAIK, you need a payement method accepted by Lindenlab as the first fee is taken directly from there.

After you payed the first fee, all others can be deducted from your account's USD balance.

I haven't tried a pre-paid card, but I've heard of others that have with success.

What kind of error are you getting?

Also, are you overseas?

The rest of the knowledge base article probably has little to do with your issue... since it's a prepaid and not a bank card.

Thanks for your answers and the advices on the pre-paid card. I will try with it again.

Nonetheless, I would appreciate if there were users that could clarify if one can use her/his lindens to pay for the subscription in any way (even after exchanging the right amount for US$).

Thanks again.

You can use your US$ balance to pay anything you owe LL, regardless of where the US$ came from (from your payment info through 'Increase your Credit' or by sellng L$ on the LindeX) but you do need to have your payment info on file even if you never plan to use it.

I believe I have heard that on type of card works better than the other, Mastercard or Visa, but I don't remember which is which.

Yes, you can. Sell the L$ on the Lindex. The proceeds go back to your account in the $US column. Linden Lab will use that balance to pay any of your SL bills before charging your credit card or whatever payment method you've given them. Note, though, that you pay a 3.5% transaction fee on sales of L$...so this amounts to a hidden "tax" on using linden dollars to pay your $US obligations.

Better to use PayPal or your prepaid Visa card and pay in $US directly.
