I put on this stupid poofer that makes a huge cloud of black smoke ... ok, great fun for a friend and I, but now I cant get rid of the effect. I've detached the thing, deleted it, logged out and in several times, cleared my cache ... I'm still poofing when I log in. What do I do?

There has to be a remnant prim present that had the particle script in it. The script does not have to remain as particles become a property of the prim. Turn on view transparent and try to find the offending prim. It may be very small but it will be there somewhere.

I was going to say that I could give you a particle kill script that you can insert into yourself but I don't think avvies are quite like prims. giggle. And I wouldn't know where you should stick it.
