Hi,
I keep getting whispers from something that doesnt seem to exist.
The whispers start, "The object ' ' has sent you a message from Second Life:"
I deleted everything I could find from what I thought might be causing this but I appear to be still getting them.
Any ideas how I can stop them?

Something that whispers is within 10m of you. Are you sure it's not an attachment? Have you tried looking at transparent objects by using CTRL ALT T?

That sounds like instant messages (whispers are something else) that have been sent to your email, is that correct?

If they are, they should be accompanied, at the bottom, by a note of who owns the object and a SLURL to its location.

If all else fails, you can mute an object by name - it's on one of the menu options, can't remember where right now.

Yeah these are going to my email so they are instant messages. Ive got an owner and slurl, so should I use that to stop them?

From: Rebekah Trilam Yeah these are going to my email so they are instant messages. Ive got an owner and slurl, so should I use that to stop them? Yep. Assuming you aren't the owner, about all you can do is find the object and Mute it. (At least that's how I think it works--my Mute list is pretty empty at the moment, but pretty sure I've done that before.) You might want to ask the Owner why the object is trying to IM you--I'm thinking it may be a script gone horribly wrong and lagging stuff unnecessarily.

I kept getting mysterious green messages in my chat window indicating that my rent was due. Knowing it wasn't the rental boxes for my business properties and (at the time) not owning any residential property, I was totally at a loss.....
....until I remembered that the rent was due on a vendor spot I was renting. Business owners: if you're renting out spots to folks, make sure the rental box adequately describes itself. Had I not put rental due dates on my calendar, that one might have lapsed and my objects returned.
Aside from that, I once had the same whispering problem and finally found it was an attachment I had purchased at some point. Can't even remember what it was, but I quickly got rid of it.
