You've been here over a year and still want to learn "the basic skills for sl"? Search on the Events tab for 'lasses. There might even be an Education type in the drop down.

I've always been a great fan of NCI. Another great place to learn the basics is a portal, such as Oxbridge in Caledon.

Aeries,

By "basic skills" do you mean the fundamental controls for the Second Life client, such as walking around / opening things / buying items or do you mean building and texturing?

If it's the former, I'd suggest Caledon's Oxbridge as the best place. Their tutorials are clearly laid out and beat anything LL have set up to educate newbies, hands down.

If it's the latter, then I suggest the Texturing and Building forums on this site - pay close attention to the sticky topics (in red at the top of each forum). Also, the Ivory Tower of Prims is good for building basics. For making clothing and other textures, a quick Google will throw up loads of websites with hints and tips. This depends on what graphic programme you're using obviously - there are loads of tutorials for Photoshop users but fewer for Gimp and PSP students.

Best wishes,

Pearl

Oh, disregard the Portal advice then, and I'll second Pearl's advice, in particular the Ivory Tower of Primitives. Really, can't recommend the place highly enough.
