Weird, unexpected animation

Just today my avatar started to do this weird animation. It is bent over at the waist, looking as if it is folded in half, with the arms pressed to my side and the hands sticking up over my waist. Then it stays there for a few seconds. This happens randomly. I detached everything and it still happens. I even put on one of the newbie avatars from the library and it still happens. I turned on the animation headings that show over the avatar and they all seem normal. In other words, no animation key shows up when it happens. I went to Help Island and saw this occur to two other avatars there and it happened to me there as well.

Is anybody else seeing or experiencing this? What could be causing this. It is very annoying an embarrassing. I could take a picture I guess, and put it on flickr. It's just so embarrassing that I don't want to.

Any help or suggestions would really be appreciated.

Thank you.

It is one of those strange sl glitches that happens now and then. Sometimes referred to as the "self pleasure" animation or the "head up ass" animation. Relogging usually takes care of it.

Check that JIRA entry and let us know which version of the client you're getting it in.

Another example :p

As it is, no need to be ambarrassed if it's the same as poor Loren experienced, that one glitch was apparantly only visible to the glitchee. :D

It's also known as getting the idea of how LL sees the world... don't forget that! Or, "Hey, so THAT'S where my prim hair, earrings and shoes went!"

It's annoying, but relogging does take care of it.

Yes, Argent. Exactly. And Damien, that is a good description. This is precisely why this animation is so embarrassing to me.

Thanks so much. I was afraid that maybe I had encountered some weird new griefer technique. I am much relieved.

Hugs to you both.

Did you click any messages before it happened? I could have been a "Thrasher", a type of script attack that deforms your avatar.

I can remember this bug from 2006 - it was fixed in a release somewhen in 2007 and now seems to have been re-introduced!

Was that in the regular client (1.21) or the RC (1.22)?

It still randomly happens, though fairly infrequently (once a month or so?) in the RC for me. Argent pointed out the JIRA issue for this:

http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1388

Please log in to the JIRA using your SL avatar name and password, and vote for this issue to let LL know that it still happens.

Hope - Something similar happened to me. It started with one of the client releases, but I forget which one.

In my case I fixed it by adjusting the Graphics settings (in preferences). If I remember correctly, it was unchecking "bump shaders" that did the trick.

That only happened to my avatar when that fan club of stalkers did that to my avatar in a griefer attack and they appeared as the "Muircastle Clan".

It has never happened any other time than that one time.

Thanks Oryx for the link to the jira. I went there and voted. Argent, the release number is 1.21.6 (99587). Not sure if the number in parenthesis is important, but included it anyway. Oh, I also commented in the jira.

It has not happened again so far today. I was online for about an hour this morning and all was well.

I didn't mention in yesterday's post that I had relogged several times and the issue kept occurring. I even cleared my cache once or twice. That's when I gave up trying to solve this on my own and posted here.

At least I know now that no one else sees this, and that I was not a target of a new griefer technique.

Thanks to everyone who posted here. I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately one problem with this bug, is that somebody else's client could in fact have you looking for your missing hair and prim attachments, as it was so nicely put, without you knowing it, so there could be people out there who are seeing things that make them think you're weird.

But on the plus side, if your avatar does put its head where it doesn't belong on your end of things, that's not how you're being presented to the entire world. Small favor but it's a good favor.

SL was weird for me in many ways, last night. It took me forever to log on, then when I finally got on, could barely move. When I was able to move, it was into *this* animation that I 'moved' into, over and over again. I could NOT keep my head out of my posterior, no matter what I tried. It's happened to me randomly before, but last night, my head was firmly planted and would not leave. Even on re-log. I thought of this thread, and had to, really, LOL. Was talking with few people and nobody said anything, so either they didn't see it like I did, or were too polite to question it, not sure. But it's still happening, whoever thought it was fixed with a certain viewer release was wrong.....I am busy on SL and really don't have time for this nonsense.....but it is funny have to admit, mainly because I have read this thread.
