FYI, when you have a friend sign up using your referral code, he/she will not get your calling card, and you won't get his. If he upgrades to premium, you won't get the 2000L bonus as advertised on secondlife.com. ( https://secure-web6.secondlife.com/account/referral.php?lang=en )

Refer-A-Friend link no longer exchanges calling cards with new signups. No referral bonuses for accounts created after July 23rd 2008.
This pJIRA entry is now updated with 9 snapshots walking through the sign-up process, resulting in no calling card. You are supposed to get a calling card with the annotation "A friend you referred to Second Life". I have only ever received a bonus for signups corresponding to one of these cards. I believe the calling card is a necessary condition for a 2000L bonus upon upgrade.

You still mention SL to your friends? I learned quickly to not talk about SL to people or they consider having me committed or they figure I have a dead marriage or I'm some kind of pervert that goes to SL just for sex.

A friend of mine was referred by his wife about two years ago. She just received the bonus a couple of weeks ago. Something tells me they are a bit backed up, although something like this would be easy to automate, so I have no idea why there was a two year lag in their case.
I have referred numerous people and have yet to receive a single bonus for it. I guess I just have to wait another year or so...  |

If they didn't put your name into the referral blank, then you won't ever receive any bonus. Normally, you give them a specially-crafted link with a special code unique to your account to sign up with, and it will auto-fill your name in as the referrer, so they don't have to remember to do it. |

I still receive referral bonuses from people I referred in 2004. Every year. There are a few people I have been paid a bonus for 4 times.  |
