Okay, so the update on the release candidate has somehow made it so that I can actually GO to page 2 of the search, by clicking on "2" or "next."
But though it may show there are 12 and more pages on page 1, 2, 3, and 4, by the time I get to five, it shows only 5 pages, with me on the fifth one.
So I can't click to 6, etc.
Any explanation?

After you first perform the search it indicates there are 12 pages, but after the 5th page it just shows 1 through 5?
That's actually normal behaviour, Google acts the same way. I *think* that when you search the first time it just performs a limited search to get a rough guess of how many results there are, but once you get to a certain point it finds out that "oops, there's actually only 59 results".

OK, here is what happened for me. I searched "furniture" in the search all and got several thousand results returned. But I didn't. It wouldn't let me go past page 5, so only 50 results. Well, at least initially. After several minutes I was able to go past page 5. Not sure what that delay is about.

Yeah, I meant page 5 in the title, not page 6.
Glad to know I'm not the only one this is happening to.

I bug reported it last week so maybe it'll get fixed.

Do they understand how this affects business's in SL? I, for one, am not too thrilled being used as a beta tester with this new search, so much so that we are seriously thinking about taking our $200.00+ monthly payments down to basic as no one at LL we have talked to has any idea what is going on. We talked to one just yesterday on the phone that said she didn't understand it and didn't like the search herself. We talked to one last week that had no clue how to get the search working, although he did spend lots of time with us trying, and one the week before that just had no clue at all and he seemed annoyed that we were even asking for help. They seem to be biting the hands that feed them.

There's a way around this. If by page 5 you haven't found what you're looking for and want to look further, go back to the page that had 17 pages (or whatever) listed and click on page 6. Sometimes you have to skip further ahead than that, but it usually works.

Sometimes you have to skip further ahead than that, but it usually works. Actually when you do that you will get exactly the same results as on Page 5. Basically you get a maximum of 50 hits on any keyword in New Search (10 per page, only 5 accurate pages). This is NOT by design and is a known bug in the Google search appliance that LL's using, apparently. There is a Jira about this that states that LL is currently looking for a workaround. http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3159
