Is it not possible to put a usable landmark in a notecard? The address just reads within the sim you're in. I find landmarks inside notecards in ads all over the place, and all of them are useless -- So why do people use them? Did it work in the past?

Make sure you create the landmark in the exact position of the sim you want to send them to. It should work, if not let me know and I'll be happy to help you create. |

I hand all my new tenants a notecard with landmarks to our rent boxes (spread across several islands). This is the only way most folks would ever find them, and I know the landmarks work- otherwise no one would be paying rent. But it's possible folks usually use the LMs while they're already on their rented parcel (in the same sim). ...thinking... No... I also give out a notecard that contains a bunch of LMs to freebie places all over the grid. People use this notecard all the time (and even my alts always pick it up and use it), and I've never seen or heard of an issue with the embedded LMs not working sim-to-sim. If what you're describing is correct, it's a new problem. _____________________

If what you're describing is correct, it's a new problem. This is when I put a notecard-giver in an ad space that I've rented, or in one case the ad itself is just a picture with a notecard-giver. You pull up the notecard, click it, get the "show on map" and look at it, and it just shows you a point in THAT sim. But this isn't just mine -- every other time I've ever tried it with mine or anyone else's, it does the same thing. I'm walking around this mall right now and all of these people's landmarks are useless. A month ago when I rented a space somewhere else, I had to give out landmarks instead of notecards because of this. Now, it's an issue that I can't work around, because the space I rented only gives out notecards. Landmarks by themselves seem to be fine -- they work from anywhere. Maybe if one of you is in-world, popo or Wildefire, I could show you, if you don't mind all the racey content in this mall. I'm not sure what you mean, popo, by creating the landmark in the exact position? You mean the notecard? EDIT: P.S. It's just me, I guess. I've always hit "show on map" and then hit teleport on the map whenever I've used a landmark. So "show on map" doesn't work from within a notecard, but if you teleport directly, it does. So, surely I'm not the first person to discover that as a problem, or do most people just not find it to be a problem? |
