My Landlord has announced that our sims will be closing down before Dec, there are 13 sims in total. They are doing the decent thing, they are refunding all rent and they are not re-selling the sims as some sort of bargain of the year.

This is a direct result of the Linden price increase and the changes to openspace. The owners have worked really hard, they're such nice people. I'll be fine, I'll find some place to live, but I feel so sad for them and all the work they've put into the community, it sucks that this has happened to them.

Personally I think people should give it another fortnight before throwing in the towel but it's good to read of a landlord doing the right thing, I'm already getting messages from people getting a raw deal from their landlord.

My landlord is lovely, she has just told me she is keeping her Island and asked me to share it with her........so I'm lucky, but so many people where I live will have to move on.

But you're right, it might be a bit early to make decisions about closing down sims....but I guess some are anticipating the worst and who can blame them!

I agree with Ciaran. It's still possible that a change might come about that will make people who dumped their OSs to kick themsleves. Zee did say that he would make sure that grandfathering is considered again. It's unlikely that anything will change, but it's possible. Even the current arrangements mean that there will be no change until Jan 1, and everyone still has at least 1 month left at the current rates, so it might worth waiting - just in case.

I was made homeless from my landlord converting a full sim into 4 openspaces when he drank the OS koolaid last spring.

Oh well what goes around comes around.

I'm hoping your optimism is rewarded. My partner and I are waiting until mid-December to make a decision about our OS sim, both because we want to consider all our options and because I still hold a microcrumb of hope that LL will reevaluate and revise their plan.

I'm not optimistic. I'm just saying that something could happen between now and Jan 1, and that everyone still has at least a full month to wait and see without losing anything in that time.

It would be great if something changed before Jan 1st. I doubt something will but I seriously doubt it.. I am more hopeful that something will change before July. On the other hand it might just be the screw turning tighter.
