Is there a way to combine multiple prims or a series of prims to form one prim? Is that what "blenders" are for?

You can link ,multiple prims together to form one 'object' that will consist of several (up to 255) prims.

This only works when wearing shoes. :P

Select your prims you want linked and then hit "Control-L".

To unlink them (this will unlink ALL prims of a link object selected) hit "Control-Shift-L".

To unlink only one prim in a series of link objects you must first check the box "edit linked objects" first and it will allow you to edit one prim in a linked set and by hitting Shift-Control-L you can unlink that 1 prim for a set of linked prims.

But only if you are wearing shoes. :D

Blender is a program used for making sculpties, which are a different type of prim, but a single prim nonetheless unless linked how I told you above.

If you are thinking of a permanent volume based addition, no. Nor subtraction. :(

It's what 'linking' is for..as Briana notes.

Good idea to rez a bunch of basic prims and try experimenting with the 'link' and 'unlink' commands (also to be found under 'tools' at the top of your in-world screen..highlight the objects to be linked and hit 'link'). See what happens when you link the prims in different orders or when you expand or shrink the linked object or how far apart objects can be linked..stuff like that.

Linking multiple prims doesn't reduce your prim count, an object of ten prims linked together will always count as ten prims.

I had a quick look in the blog to see if Torley's done a video tip on linking and related stuff (I'm sure he has) but couldn't find it. Check out the Video Tip archives in the blog or pop over to 'Here' on you map (it's an experience..you do like green and purple don't you).

Perre..:)

I get the picture. I thought there'd be a way to consolidate the prims to one, but I guess not. Thanks for the help!
