Hi- I did a forum search and couldn't find what I was looking for. I have a friend who downloaded SL and keeps crashing. are there other versions for him to try and download to see what would happen? If there are- could you provide me with the links to them- I really appreciate your help! and I appreciate any other help or tips you can provide to him. thanks!

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

The RC (available from the "Test Viewers" links at the bottom of the download page, http://secondlife.com/support/downloads.php ) is just about to go official as the next version, and lots of bugs have been squashed in that. It may be worth a try. It's running really well for me.

Other than that, Nicholaz "The Mad Patcher" Beresford's version which Ann mentioned is the iconic "patched SL client".

Post the system specs too!

The ones listed are usually inferior to whats actually needed.

Also it'd be useful to post which client they're using: Standard or RC.

*Edit*

I just looked at the "requirements" and Holy Crap!! GeForce 2? GeForce4?? Severely Out Of Date!!!!

I have been using the onrez viewer as I am on a different computer for awhile that just doesn't seem to like the SL viewers..

I seem to be having pretty good luck with it so it might be worth a shot for your friend as well.

If we can't expect the 'Grid Status' page to be up to date, why would the rest of the website be? (o.o)

And there is RealXtend...

I like the RealXtend viewer as well. I use all of the ones mentioned to log onto various Open Sim grids and RealXtend will work sometimes when others do not (ignore the text on the splash screen, which is for the local test grids). Google on RealXtend.
