i hooked up my old WinME computer, for browser navigation, image search, etc. sadly, it does not me let even log into the SL website at all.... which means I can't read the forums from that computer, tickle with my $Lindens purchasing, check transactions history, etc etc... is this new? i used to be able to access the forums from it... anyone know of a workaround?

You might try updating Internet Explorer to the extent that you can on Windows ME. I, by the way, really like my old WinME computer; I must be the person in the world that liked WinME.
You could also try installing Firefox or Opera.
In what way does it let you know you can't log in? Any particular error message?
Do you have cookies turned on?
Have you cleared you internet cache?
Some folks might say you could install Linux on it.

it doesn't give any message. just reverts back to the log-in window and makes me start over, and over and over. i've cleaned it up, so i don't think it's cookies or cache. and i doubt there is enough memory to download Linux. but i'll check it out. i don't even know wut Linux is.

you will find a linux will handle the old machine much better, less memory and cpu needed for the same tasks. Lots less.

Linux is an entirely different operating system - not the first thing to try, expecially for a non-technical person.
I'd try updating Internet Explorer and installing Firefox.
Can you access other forums?

not to rehash an old thread, but i've been away and am just getting around to participating in the forum again. to answer your question, yes i can access ANY website and forum but SL. i can view the blog, but i cannot log my avatar name into the website to view transactions, general account information, this forum, etc. i'm just using that computer for word processing and such, so it's not a big deal. just thought it'd be nice to check my stuff's when i happen to be on it, but it's not critical. i'm not going to mess with Linux or anything like that. it has the highest IE winme will support..... maybe if i had firefox. but again, i'm not really as enthusiastic about finding a loophole as i was when i first hooked it up. thanks for trying to help with your replies.
