Building Ethics

So lets say I come across a bild I Really Really Really like *ahem* Creamshop *ahem* and I know I have all the tools to build something similar and the perfect water space for it in zindra, Is it wrong for me to make a very similar build?

To use someone elses work as your inspiration to create something might be derivative, but not ethically an issue. Now if you are talking about using a hacked client that lets you leech a build then reupload it as your own or some inworld script that does the same thing.. yeah, I think you would make all the angels in Heaven cry and Satan do a happy dance.

Nope no thuglyfe or some ther hacked client......I just know I have some of the same sculptys the same weather machine the same textures the same barnes prefabs to build something mighty similar and only because it's my favorite build in world but I would like to see an aduly version of it with escorts on street corners and a porn shop instead of ice cream store etc etc and a stripclub or such instead of a clothes store

If you can build it, then build it. You are under no obligation to not hand copy someone elses work using whatever legitimate build tools and resources you have at your disposal.

Heck, i even stopped making pierces because so many people have so many pierce shops i can just walk into a place, see something that is similar to what i want - buy it, and then re-mod it to be what i want, creating a unique derivative of that persons work that no one else will be able to buy. I could just create a torus myself, dimple, cut, hollow, yadda yadda - but why reinvent the wheel? Heck, LL used to say that back in the early days when people would talk about the ethics of modding someones work into something else.

Also take in mind and squared off city scape with rain and parts submered in water is.going to look in someway like creamshop

I'd say it's okay. As long as it was not a copybot copy and was merely inspired by it, there is no harm.

And I doubt highly it will be a copybot copy.

Speaking of which does copybot even work anymore? I know shooped life has been abandoned but haven't heard about copybot

Yep. It works. Never heard of shooped life.

Shooped life was PN's old veiwer and could supposedly do some mumbo jumbo and inow they are working on thuglyfe in closed beta that keeps them from being banned. As well as has some copy function that doesn't check permisions......I asked about copybot because the guy that did it has stepped away from PN quite a while ago......don't get me wrong I don't get involved in this stuff but I like reading PN vs. WU and wh is killing whose chickens

Well. He may have stepped away from CopyBot but others have stepped right into his shoes.

CopyBot is being sold for thousands of Linden on a website and over 1800 people had purchased it, last i checked. At the same time however, you can go to the PN website and download it for free. Capitalism for the win.
