This morning I teleported to a store that sells animated beds, and another person popped in right next to me.

He was a good-looking guy, but almost twice my size, and I said something to him... something clever like, "Jesus Christ, you're tall!"

He said he liked petite women... and we chatted a little...

Then... poof! He suddenly changed size! Now he was just a couple inches taller than me, and it was a nice change.

I said, "Wow! How did you do that?"

Him: "How did I do what?"

Me: "Change size like that."

Him: "I didn't do anything."

Me: "Oh... uh... I guess it must have been something in my viewer, then..."

After that, he walked away, leaving me feeling somewhat like an ass.

Now I *know* I didn't imagine it, and I was standing right next to him, so it wasn't a perspective issue... in fact, when he was gigantic I walked all around him. (Yes, I really did.)

Does anyone have an explanation? Please tell me I am not the only one to experience this.

Um, you can change sizes any time you want, either by using the sliders, or putting on another shape.

Oh, and you're not supposed to name names, so IBTL.

Okay,

1 - I did NOT names names... there is no "Henry Pym" in SL.

There was a character in the Marvel comics called Giant Man, and his real-life name was Henry Pym:

A lame joke, I guess.

2- The guy didn't change appearance. I would have noticed. It was instantaneous.

3 - What does IBTL mean?

MY bad then :)

In before the lock ;)

You don't have to go into appearance to change your shape. You can do it from inventory with another shape that is in there.

IBTL = In Before The Lock

There has been a bug that shows up on and off with the size of Avatars. Normally it makes them small, but being a shape display bug it could make them larger as well. That might have been what you saw.. More than likely it was just a shape with Maxed out sliders that he suddenly changed to a more normal one.

okay, maybe I'm stupid, but I always thought that if someone was playing with their sliders, that their legs and arms go stiff and the words "Editing appearance" pop up over their heads.

I was actively looking at this guy. One second he was big. The next he was small.

Not a big deal.

That makes sense. Thanks -- I didn't think.
