You can cam trough the walls and floor, it might be in one of those. Hopefully it didn't get eaten by SL.

If you know roughly what your parcel's prim count should be, check that and see if it's changed in accordance with how many prims (roughly) the item has. Also, check outside the area where you tried to rez it, and up in the air. I own several items that inexplicably rez about 10m above my head sometimes, or outside the house.

You could also try checking 'select only my objects' (I think it's in the Tools menu; not inworld to check right now), camming out to view the area, and then going into Tools > Edit mode and drawing a large box around the area where you rezzed the item. You might spot the outline of it that way, if it *did* rez somewhere unexpected.

I have gotten into the habit of having the Edit window open whenever I rez anything from inventory these days. The window will show the item's name/etc.. if the item really does rez. Additionally, and maybe more importantly, it will show the items Position and usually even show the arrows so you can pull it back to where you want it if it happened to have soared far away.

I have had objects just instantly land in the 0.0.16 (SW Corner) location of the sim on rez. If you own the sim you might want to go check there.
If you dont find it you might submit a ticket for an inventory restore
