so wound up
I just IM a guy who offers custom scripting in his profile. I explained the problem I had with a scripted attachment and he said maybe I was in area where scripts were not allowed. I told him that it happened all over. He then said I need a better script. So far so good.

I said that I would send a copy of the item so he could take a look and see if he could help. He declined my item and I heard nothing else.

From what I can gather he makes a living in sl. Whith rudeness like that I'd be surprised if he makes much money.

My first Im to him asked if he was busy as I had a problem he could maybe help with. If he was he could have just said so.

Just checked again and yes he does mention custom scripts I wasn't imagining it.

wish I could share his name so that I could warn you all about doing business with such an ignorant tosser.

It's possible that he was in busy mode, content creators often are. If he didn't turn it off in time, he would never have seen your item offered as it would be automatically declined.

The offer wasn't declined straight away it was about 30 seconds after, but that is not really what I was bothered about. It was the lack of this guys manners. Like I said I asked if he was busy first. Its the fact that he advertises custom scripting then his only answer to me is you need a better script.

Not good business sense to act like that in my opinion

I had a scripter do that to me once. I felt like the project I had in mind wasn't important enough for him. Maybe it's the same guy.

The scripters are the wizards in SL, speaking in arcane language and making unreal objects do real things. You know, you just can't reason with wizards.

I am a Wizard that can be reasoned with, although the reason must be presented in a fun and meaningful way, must also include chipmunks and baby fish swimming in the mind of a violin. Mwhahahaha!

I have been dense and a little disrespectful to some "Customers" that want things made that are very nasty in nature (Example: A script to take over an avatar without permission requests) But that kind of person dose not deserve respect or my time.

Being busy a lot I do try and respond, but sometimes things get lost in the shuffle. Dose not sound like it could be the unnamed scripters fault on this one, he could be really busy. and SL can sometimes take a while to transfer inventory.

On the other hand, anyone can claim anything and say anything in Second Life with very little risk of lies being surfaced. Surfing on that note, I have worked for the president of the universe, i have 2.1 billion dollars, Currently own a robot *sex* slave (VCR), and live on the moon.

Nothing to get upset about, just shrug it off and move on :)

I was just having a rant I'm sure not all scripters are rude even if you can't understand them.

Did you get a cigar in the oval office?

Luckily I am a Cyan Energy Man ;-)

Oh and I hope when I rant on the forums I get the same warm welcome and reply you have gotten.

Now Mr Wizard I want you to go back and read my posts. I wasn't having a rant at everybody or even a particular group. I was having a rant about one individual. now write out a hundred times "I will take more care when reading posts" and no using scripts to do it for you ;)

Yeah, and RA is not really for rants, but it get's rants, and you ranted, not everyone get's a warm welcome.

Quote Myself:

This was just a quip about human nature, and as stated in the post this was nestled in. It was not directed at anyone, this apply for me, you, the scripter, and other posters, everybody. Thus I am happy that you ranted, because it is human nature.

Content makers and Scripters are humans, they make things, some aren't good with social niceties or they are may be trying to make things as floods of instant messages, group notices, individual request and just overwhelmed.
They aren't always able to respond politely or ways others wish them too.
May be the person was just so bombarded they couldn't respond any more polite then they did.
And they might have been in middle with too many request, and was burning out over all the very demanding or stressed out residents wanting such and such, often those residents want such and they sort had reach their limit when you instant message.

Hi, Amy.

Yes, you ranted. Take a look at the title you gave this thread...unless you're Robert Fulton or Mark Twain, it sorta sounds ranty to me. ;)

Don't worry about it, we all need to rant now and then.

Somatika...I like your Cyan Power Posts. I hope we see more of you, if you're not too busy exploding into little Lego bricks.

Scripters <> rude people. (That little <> is the closest I can get to "Set A is not identical to Set B", as my old math teacher used to say.)

You'll find rude people almost anywhere. Scripters are a bit more thin on the ground. The Scripting forum is one place to meet some. Products Wanted (already suggested) is another. Or contact one of the forum regulars...there are several scripters that hang out here. Qie Niangao has done some really nice work for me in the past.
