I had no clue what thread to post this on. I always thought there were 6 days inworld per every day in real life. But now I am not sure, maybe it's 4. Either way it's confusing and I want to program a fireworks display to go off every 'absolute midnight'. That being the time when it's as dark as it's going to get and I have a good ten minutes to actually do a proper display. I assume the only way is to witness one in your sim and figure out the times per SL x day and do the math. But how many are there, lol
I should mention I am not an estate holder, just own a plot.

That would probably be a scripting question, but here goes anyway: All documentation state that an SL day cycle is 4 hours, with 3 hours of day and a 1 hour night. But rather than trying to do some math yourself, you can just check llGetTimeOfDay(), which gives you the time since SL midnight. It has the quirk that it starts at zero when the sim reboots, and only fall in line at the next midnight, returning to zero then, so you'll get a misreading at reboot. You can do something clever to detect that, or just celebrate that the sim is back up with fireworks

The in-world night-day cycle is 4 hours (3 hrs daytime and 1 hr of darkness) so there's 6 true midnights.

To qualify this slightly: this is true of normal mainland areas or of private islands that use the normal day cycle. Private islands can change the day cycle or use a constant time -- for example, in the Midnight City region it's ALWAYS midnight. (Well, actually 12:02am when I checked it, but close enough.)
