I'm still working on renovating my apartment and was thinking about getting a TV to put up, but I was wondering about a couple of things... I've heard that SL has it's own stations and can stream them, I know I've got streaming on the land I'm renting because it says something about having the landlord set it up for you. Do you need a special TV in order for this to work? one of the furniture stores I went to recently has some very nice looking "prop" TVs for only 1l but I wasn't sure if they would work or not. I was also wondering about playing movies in world. At my friend's place they have a movie rack and watch them on their bigscreen. I've looked around but haven't seen anything like this yet and was curious about where to find a movie store or w/e. Anywho, that's about it

Those prop TV are probably just that. I have a big screen from a place called @home. It has a "Tuner" that brings in 10 channels I think, mostly showing old B grade movies and some music videos, as well s a handful of Adult Movies. It also has a free addition that will give you 2 Inworld "News" channels. I don't remember how much it cost, but it wasn't much.
There are a few TV and radio systems available. Some are easier to configure than others, you have to set some to a group if you rent to get them to work, etc. The one I have doesn't need that, you just rez it, enable video and it plays. The screen is also adjustable in size. _____________________

I once had neighbors that were married in RL. They would sit in their SL home and watch their SL TV together. I couldn't help but imagine them sitting next to eachother on the sofa in RL with their laptops.
SL is nuts ![]() |

Thank you Brenda I suppose I will browse around some more then if there are channels and things included with the TV, if I can make it easier on myself by just spending a little extra then I will definitely take that route. Thanks again,Sienna |

I paid way too much for a TV that was difficult to put channels into, buggy, and had a creator who no longer offered support. Then I got a free one from SLCN and love it. It comes with several SLCN channels built-in. I think you can set up other channels, too, but I haven't tried. They have a few models available, all free:

Interesting thread.
I put a freebie TV in the skyboxes I rent out. I added to the channels that were in it, so it now has about 14 of them. It plays DVDs that you can rent of course. I think I'll put it in the store as a freebie. I don't think that any TV system in SL plays channels that are not freely available to all TV systems, so paying a lot for one isn't really a good idea. _____________________

if you pay for a TV only do so because you like the texture use/design of it. Then consider how much a texture is and never pay over L$100. But FREE is the way to go.

Metaverse TV has over 30+ free TV designs that automatically set up our stream on land parcel or can be used for any video media. Teleport to the Ron Paul sim, you can't miss us.
If you are on group land, you need the permission to be able to deed objects to the group that owns the land. Once these TVs are deeded over they will work. If anyone needs help setting up video on their land, let me know. Sometimes landlords do not allow tenants to deed objects over, in that case they need to either allow that permission or set the tv down for you. |

Thank you all, I went over to SLCN and picked up a TV. Had my landlord help me set it up and am loving it so far. I had never watched actual sl TV before, it's so funny to see..it really is a little second life.
I may have to try adding other media later, as I'm sure the snail races will get pretty boring after a while LOL. Thank you all again,Sienna |
